Short report and results from Mike Proctor / Ian Cowe
Hi All
Sorry the results of the June 21st event have been a long time arriving, we have had to take time get over the shock of another excellent day's weather!!
Conditions were testing to say the least. Very few slots produced lift for a gaggle of models, rather just a few isolated pockets in diverse parts of the sky were found by some pilots and missed by others! The result was that you needed to make as few mistakes as possible to get a winning score, which Barry managed better than anybody else having only one poor flight and 6 good ones - well done!
Much re-launching was done in slots where models were close to the ground in 4 mins; sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't but it produced a great competition.
Despite declaring himself unfit to fly, Ian attended and managed the scoring/timing system. Having a timing loop with 5mins prep time and then the 11min slot time, running more or less continuously certainly maintains the event momentum and we had 7 rounds and lunch completed by 3.00pm.
Hope to see you all next month, especially the workers/holidaymakers who had to miss the last Midland event. - Mike
