The last of the Winter Series competitions took place on Sunday 7^th March 2010 at Twywell, 20 pilots turned out to fly.

The day started very cold with bright sunshine, I don’t think there was a single cloud all day but despite the sun the temperature stayed below 5 degrees throughout the day.

Round 1 started at around 10.30am, most pilots found lift early on and flights of 9 min plus were common. I was however surprised by the amount of landing bonuses going to waste. The light breeze was deceiving and even experienced pilots were dropping short of the landing spots, myself included.

A couple of models ended up in the next field and 1 landed in a small tree but damage was minimal.

Overall it turned out to be a good end to the series, prize giving was delayed slightly by a computer mishap, thanks to Chris Grant for helping me to get it sorted quickly.

The overall winners were;

1^st John Hullet with his own built 100s model winning 4 out of 5 rounds

2^nd was Richard Reed with consistently high scores throughout the day

3^rd was Dave Varah who had 4 good rounds out of 5

Top 100s pilot was of course John Hullet

As for the series results I have scored them as best 4 out of 5 comps

1^st place Kevin Newitt

2^nd place John Hullet

3^rd place Dave Varah

4^th place Peter Newitt

5^th place Sydney Lensen

Top 100s was John Hullet followed by 2nd Alan morton and 3rd Lionel Essam

The top 4 pilots known as team 64 have shown consistency throughout the series, they work very well as a team and will no doubt be very hard to beat at future competitions. Congratulations to all 4 of you. The rest of us must try harder in future!

Last of all I would like to say a big thank you to Neville Warby without Neville’s help and his van full of equipment I would find it very hard to run these competitions.

Thanks also to Lorraine for her help with picture taking and also to all of the competitors who helped throughout the series. Without these people, flying for me would be very difficult.
