Bartletts Leaque Comp 23rd May Report & Results
By Brian Austin @ 05:01 :: 197 Views :: 0 Comments :: Competition Results - Electric Soaring

Having had to postpone the first two events, it came as some relief to get the first one flown. But the wait was worth it as the weather really turned it on for once. Wall to wall blue sky’s, which I thought may lead to the air being very hot, so as to limit thermal activity. Could not have been further from the truth. Out of 18 slots flown over 6 rounds, only 1 slot failed to too fly out the 10 minutes of slot time.
The majority of entrants were using HL’s, I think from memory only 4 flew using 200 watts rule.
Considering that the conditions were virtually ideal, there was a surprising amount of carnage/damage suffered by some flyers. The lunch break turned into a bit of a cyno session for some.
Dereck Collings chewed up Ray Gadene’s LE on his Pulsa, on launch. Then Ray & Alan Twine managed to lock horns in a mid air in the same thermal, with fatal results.

Most people had had enough after 6 rounds although others were keen to go on.
Flying 2 metre models as well as Open, if you wanted to worked well. It also keeps the entry up in the slots.

Once again I am indebted to my good friend Peter Hindle, who not only has developed a new matrixing & scoring programme, that works very well, but doubles as David Bailey with his camera & times as well. He also was kind enough to loan me his Sprite to fly in the 2 metre class as well. There’s confidence for you with what they cost!!!!!!! One thing of note was that the hatch on the Sprite came off, on one round resulting a zero score, which was a shame as I managed to fly the slot out, which when you take into account, the drag Shocked

Next event will be on June 20th at Bartletts, so come along & join in, as we seemed to have attracted some new souls to the cause for the next event.
