Most people who have any interest in hand-launched gliders will know the name of Bruce Davidson, either from his appearances in the Radio Carbon Art ‘Master-Class’ DVD’s or simply from hanging out at the various internationals that he competes in. After securing a 20 acre plot of land and the shell of a house several years ago, Bruce and his wife Christine have worked hard to create the “Thermal Farm”. With the property complete and some hard work to manage field into a condition suitable for F3K competition it was time to put the dream in-place and hold an event in his own backyard.
In only its second year “the bruce” has grown to be the largest F3K event in the USA and has attracted over 70 pilots from all over the world (including Australia, New Zealand, England, Germany, Switzerland and Sweden). With the first ever F3K World Championships being held next year, a team of enthusiastic UK pilots decided to make the 4500mile journey for&amp;#160;the chance to fly against pilots some of whom will no-doubt be in their own national teams.
The UK team was Nick Chitty, Lorry Green, Mike Stern and me (Richard Swindells) as pilots and Hayley Hawes as my timer.................
