Hi Jason, RC Multi 3 normally come with the FAI firmware installed. This is the stuff needed for international F5J competitions. No adjustment of height or time is possible with this firmware so it's normal that the keyboard won't do anything (and if you look at it on a computer using the DataManager software a lot of the parameters will be greyed out).   For sports flying, or for most competitions other than international F5J, you will want to be able to set height and time, either on the computer or using your keyboard. To do this, you will need to replace the firmware - most probably with Multi 3 v2.05.  You can download this firmware from the RC-Electronics site, together with the .pdf manual - which tells you what to do on p13 under the heading 'Firmware Update'. Feels a bit scary the first time you do this but you soon get used to it.  Or you may only need to do it the once anyway. You can use Multi 3 v2.05 for most comps other than international F5J - it's fine for BARCS ELG, eSoaring and even F5J comps flown to UK variation rules (which allow you simply to adjust the launch height to 300m and to retain the possibility of a motor re-start (for a zero flight score but can save a model)).  _____________________________________ Hope this helps but if you get a comment from Bernie Jones saying anything different follow him not me - he's the guru.
