      ... or today! The photos are of my jig for Needle 124. The design I nicked from Tony Fu. Materials are some 12mm shuttering board (left over from a building project), three small pieces of plywood, some screws and car filler. The jig is 4” wide, by 4’ long. You can use ant kind of board as long as it will remain stable. The structure helps with stability as well. Two 2” deep longitudinal stiffeners and 4 or more formers (2” square) all are intended to prevent the jig warping. You can see the structure in these photos: This is the underside. The longitudinal stiffeners are screwed and glued to the top with screws every 6” or so.  . From the bottom of the photo note : 1) ply plate. The nose butts up against this. 2) first blob of car filler. 3) ply supports for wing joiner. 4) hole for towhook. 4) second and third blobs of car filler.  This closeup shows how the fuselage fits on the jig, with the joiner resting on its supports and the hook in its hole.  Construction is straightforward. The only thing to note is that the car filler is added after all the woodwork is finished. Three blobs suffice to ensure alignment. The fuselage needs to be protected while the car filler is going off. Plastic sheet, cling film, or a release agent applied to the fus will do the job. Mix the filler. Apply three generous blobs in convenient places. Place the fuselage on them using strategically placed wood blocks to separate it from the top surface. Use tape or rubber bands to hold the fus in place while the filler is going off. Make sure that the fus is in full contact with the filler on all three blobs.  Job done.
