Marc RC pilot Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 I'll be off to collect a dartboard from a local Sainsburys today (bought from Argos on special offer). ALso bought one of those rubberized surrounds from Amazon to protect the wall I played for a bit when I used to share a flat with a mate a few years back. Beginner level. I feel a new flight-related obsession coming on... Any of you ladies and gent play the game? Btw, isn't this setup a thing of beauty? 1
Marc RC pilot Posted February 21, 2023 Author Posted February 21, 2023 Might have to move the dlg a bit further from the dartboard... Lighting is next come pay day.
tonym Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Game on! Marc Here's my darts setup. I 3D printed my light surround, took 15 parts - 10 curves and 5 brackets. I already had some LED strip left over from another project. I had to use a 12v laptop power adapter as current draw was too much for the spare internet modem/router adapter I had. An old non-flying 3S LiPo would probably be enough to run them maybe? My desktop PC is below the old TV screen that is now just a monitor. USB extension lead to webcam positioned about 2 o'clock (near double 4) on board - more 3D printed parts. I've been playing on nakka.com - live darts with people from around the world. Ideally you would have a camera setup showing the screen, a lot of the players on nakka want to see your dartboard, cheating is pointless but there are some that do it. You need two gadgets - a mobile phone or webcam, and a PC, laptop or tablet. Mix any two as long as one has a camera. To prove a point I rigged up my mobile phone using a chair, a broom, a cardboard holder, an elastic band, some string, sticky tape and a small cardboard box. Make a cardboard holder to fit your phone (basically wrap the phone in cardboard from two-ply cardboard - single-ply cardboard might work. Tie broom to chair Use rubber bands to attach phone in its holder to broom handle. Use small box or something to wedge broom and chair so phone camera points at dartboard. The instructions to link a mobile phone to a PC or laptop are here - https://nakka.com/n01/online/n01_v2/webcam.html - I was sceptical it would work but it did! Both gadgets need to be on the same WiFi 1
tonym Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 A screen shot in a nakka online game with Belgian joel dessart - I'm AJ Eratic (just noticed erratic is spelt wrong!). I also play myself, I get stats to see how bad I am. An absolutely unexpected 401 in 12 darts - I usually need 30 or more darts for 401. Leon is my alter ego Chosen from a Rick & Morty episode featuring a character called Previous Leon - 'previously on'. x3 means I got a double with my third dart. 1
cirrusRC Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Nice Tony - just remind be never to walk in through that door on the right 1
tonym Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 The pantry - what you doing in the pantry? Of course I used to trap my sister in there when we were kids. 4
Marc RC pilot Posted February 24, 2023 Author Posted February 24, 2023 Ingenious setup Tony! Much food for thought. Thanks for all that info, fantastic stuff Looking forwards to getting my dart's palace setup. I'm a little worried also to be honest, as I have a door close by which leads to my shower room.... Cheers
Marc RC pilot Posted March 5, 2023 Author Posted March 5, 2023 Got the darts/spare shafts and flights, and just finished setting up the board and lights Tony! That light-ring thing is fantastic and does not get in the way at all (that was my initial concern). Now to get some practice going on.. I'll look into the online setup in the near future for sure, thanks for your help 1
Tahmid Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 Sounds like you're all set up and ready to go, Tony! That light-ring setup does sound impressive – glad to hear it's not causing any issues. Now it's time to start practicing and honing those skills. And when you're ready to explore the online setup, I'll be here to lend a hand. Happy darting!
marksmithh Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 Hey Marc, it's a fantastic setup you have got there! The rubberized surround is a smart move to keep your walls intact. I am definitely interested in joining for a game of darts! It's been a minute since I have played, but I am down for some friendly competition. Let's get those darts flying!
