  • Saturday 13th May 2023
  • All are welcome. Newcomers encouraged. If you can launch and land, safely and consistently then please consider entering and discovering the joys of competition!
Plenty of help will be available with explanations of tasks etc on the day.
  • CD will be Neil Harrison.
  • Scoring will be using F3XVault.com Please ensure you are registered on the website and ideally have saved your credentials on your mobile device in order to log in at the field. Having said that, difficulties or queries around scoring etc should not discourage you from entering as we can work around most issues and assist on the day.
  • Pilots briefing will be at 09:45 for a prompt start at 10:00. Please give yourself plenty of time to ensure no delay to the event start.
  • This is a BMFA UK League and Team Selection event.

Entry

  • BMFA membership is required.
  • Entry is via F3XVault. Link to registration: BMFA F3K 2023 Fish Meadow 1
  • Entry fee is £10, payable on the day.
  • Event registration is required before 18:00 on the preceding day, but please consider registering as early as possible to assist in planning.

Confirmation

  • All F3K events are subject to potential cancellation due to weather conditions or lack of entries (min 8).
  • Please check this thread for up to date information before travelling.

Directions

  • The satellite image view shows it very clearly.
  • Exit the A4104 onto E(ast) Waterside.
  • Drive to the end and turn right, heading through the tunnel, back under the A4104 into the field.
  • Please stick to driving along the track on the edge of the field.
  • We'll probably park up over on the side of the field where the "Sunshine Festival" is indicated on Google Maps.
  • Expect access to the field to be available from 08:30 am for a 09:45 briefing and prompt 10:00 start.

The gate will be open at the start of the day for competitors to drive onto the field.  Then it will be locked again.  It can be opened again during the day if competitors need to drive in and out, time permitting. Spectators are welcome, but unless they want to stay all day like competitors, will need to park on the right along the slip road just off the main road.  The parking here is obvious and used by locals who come to walk the footpath around the field.

What is the situation with camping there? Is there somewhere to park a van overnight?

Steve

There is a campsite adjacent to the flying field: https://fishmeadowcamping.co.uk/

Its probably less than 200m walk from there to where we normally set up.

Adding an experimental, dynamic entry list:

[As we can only embed images here I have a script running every hour that will download the pilot list page from F3XVault and then convert the relevant data to an image which is then published.]

It would be nice to get up to 15 entries for 3 decently sized groups...

Anyone else planning to make the trip to Fish Meadow next weekend?

Looks like the day’s weather should be good. I’ve just registered at number 13! Good job I’m not superstitious..

One more would be good. Of course I’d be happy with more than 15 too!

So at the risk of angering the weather gods, its looking good for Saturday!

I've been warned that the field is particularly rutted around the perimeter track so take care.

If its looking particularly bad there is alternative access to the field via the gate opposite the marina (on the right as you're heading towards the town, just as the speed limit drops to 30mph). I'm not sure how we'll make it known if that's the best way in on the day, but keep your eyes peeled for an open gate or some hastily scribbled sign at the side of the road, just in case.

The weather looks safe enough to make an early call on this one and confirm we are a GO for tomorrow.

I have bee  watching all week and it has been getting progressively better with time.

Please make sure that you are ready for pilots briefing at 09.45 so we can kick off on time at 10.00.

Safe journey everyone and see you all in the morning.

After being so grumpy at 5:20am this morning swearing at myself for the self inflicted pain and lack of sleep, as per usual, I'm so glad I came today.

Flipping great seeing you all and sharing all our love of incredible toys. Thank you NeilH and PaulR for sorting everything. Was a seamless.

Well done PaulC and Cornelius. Must be said though, MikeC, so chuffed you didn't find the quarry!

I think it'd be nice to leave Kyle, the tree surgeon, a nice google review if you appreciated his work yesterday.

What a great day of flying!

Nice to see some photos @MikevE

Doing the usual "what if" assessment of all the times yesterday has made it really clear how close everything was at the top over the last few rounds. My decision to not look at the scores after round 5 or 6 was good for my nerves. Who knows how shaky my hands would have been going into the last round if I'd realised I was actually in the lead! I've also asked Neil to check my times from Poker as one of the flights in there doesn't match my memory of what I nominated.

Congrats to Paul C on the win and to everyone else on a great day and a fun, close contest.

Results posted now for Malvern.

Great competition and I have a feeling that this season is going to be very close....

This is also the first time there were no mistakes on any of the scorecards, thank you all.
