Everyone is welcome!

If you own a DLG, thinking about buying one or just have an interest to get more from thermal soaring, this is the perfect event for you!  We cover a whole host of topics, both with some ground school understanding and lots of practical flying sessions and 1-2-1 help and training.

Why not make a weekend of it?  Join us in the evening for BBQ and social event both Friday and Saturday night and take part in the competition Saturday and Sunday, you will have a great time and come away learning so much!

So we can get an idea of numbers, please reply below to register your interest.

See you on the field!

Hi Mike,

Further to your comments over on RCGroups, I'm quite interested in attending, probably only the Friday as I don't, and won't, have anything like a contest ship. I'm not sure my DLG flying qualifies as F3K.

I've put a bit of an intro/history here, if anyone is at all interested:

As I say in there, I'm flying on my own without club of BMFA membership. Would this be a problem attending this event?

Hi Steve

You are very welcome here and it would be great to see you at the 'come try' event, this is the perfect place to learn, regardless of experience you will always come away with a lot of knowledge.

With regards to insurance, the BMFA do an absolutely tremendous job across all disciplines of our sport/hobby, and this is a 'MUST' before you fly.  The process is very simple these days and everything is done online, if you want to fly at the event then this is a mandatory requirement.  However, if you want to come along without the intention of flying then anyone is welcome, you will still learn loads!

With regards to BATS club, myself and 4 other competitors from the league are all members and regularly fly at Bramhall High School at the weekends to practice together, there are also a couple of others from the league that come from out of area to join us, this makes for a great practice session.  Looking at Google maps, you are only 13 miles/30 mins away, so if you are looking for a club to join then BATS is the right one.  If you need any help with anything, please feel free to reach out to me anytime.

Thanks Neil, really appreciate the response.

I can't see me making the trip and not wanting to fly (unless maybe the weather is atrocious, or just too much for my little models), so I'll make sure I'm joined up to BMFA. I read the insurance FAQ on their site and I believe it covers me any time I make a legally compliant flight, so it's a no brainer really.

Do I have to pre-register for the event? Do I pay on the day or ahead of time?

Hi Steve

No need to book, I just wanted to know an idea of numbers....

Pay on the day is completely fine.

I’m considering bringing this older CX5 along for sale too. I’m also thinking about offering to pay a couple of entry fees for the buyer - effectively a discount if you join in some league events…

More reasons to join us on the 29th!
