HERE WE GO!

The F3K 2024 season is soon to commence, in some ways it doesn't seem like 5 minutes since the last competition at the end of the 2023 season, however, in other ways, it seems like an eternity.

Please be reminded that there are a number of changes in the rules for 2024 and some existing rules which we will be enforcing.

  • Registration for the event will close midnight the Thursday preceding the event, in this case Thursday 14th March.
  • The call for 'Go/No Go' will be announced as usual the Friday preceding the event by 6.00pm latest.
  • The competition entry fee has increased from £10 to £15 per day, so this event will be £15.
  • The minimum number of entries to make it a valid competition will be 6.
  • The minimum number of completed rounds to make a valid competition is 4.
  • The number of completed rounds before a dropped score has been reduced from 12 to 6.
  • There has been an increase to the number of events which count to your overall score, if 6 rounds are completed, the best 5 to count.

Hope to see as many of you there as possible.

All, it is with much regret that we have to cancel the first competition of the season.

The entrance to the field is severely waterlogged, and reports from the farmer is that he even struggles to get through, as such there are now deep ruts around the entrance, this means accessing the field is a no go.

With the lanes being narrow, there is no safe place to park vehicles on the road for the number of competitors that are attending, this together with a consistent forecast for rain and wind on Saturday, means that we have no alternative but to make an early call and cancel this event.

See you all Good Friday!

Pretty much what I was expecting, given how wet it has been. Plus the M25 will be closed at junction 10 this weekend, so I suspect traffic around west London will be a nightmare, so I was not keen to venture out!

Honestly, I'm feeling down about all this rotten weather. I can't help thinking what with the massive increases in ocean temperature with climate change in the last year, that we're in for a summer of very bad gliding weather. Too much wind, too much rain, all because of too much energy in our weather systems.
