Was there any reason why there was just one F3L flyoff round rather than the (minimum) two flyoff rounds specified in the rules? Re:  Section 4 – Aeromodelling Volume F3 Radio Control Soaring Model Aircraft 2024 Edition - rule 5.L.4 a)

I'm guessing due to time constraints and running an F5L comp at the same time.

Will there be (minimum) two flyoff rounds at the next comp for F3L? Or is this going to be a deviation from the rules?

I think maybe we just got it wrong! I don't recall any decision to cut one flyoff but I also don't recall at the end thinking we were supposed to have two! Though I do now you mention it!!

What amazes me for such a fun lifty day is how few maxes were flown: just four in F5L and three in F3L all day! Rusty pilots on first outing? Or maybe we're still learning what to focus on? Didn't detract from the experience at all though.

The infill was strong between the cycles,   when the sun disappeared the lift vanished.    Yes there was some good lift but it was quite sporadic.    The F3K guys struggled a bit too if you look at their scores.

We could fly more rounds if desired. I did the draw for 1 round based upon time constraints. I think 1 round fly offs are also pretty good “all or nothing” events and a good spectacle.

I think there was a lot of lift around but little low down. 90m launch for the F5L is pretty brutal. You have 1-2 minutes to find lift before it’s game over.

once we found lift and climbed to 150m or so it became much easier to find more lift.
