Oh, in the meantime wing panels were joint together.

IMG20240526103242.thumb.jpg.6546837a7db2d0136537f7491ae4a358.jpg

Added a layer of 163g/mq fibreglass, both top and bottom, to reinforce the joint.

And glued the belly, already painted.

Wings got some very seasoned Oratex, from the scrap box.

Soldered a longer cable to ailerons servos, mounted in the wings and connected to horns with cross leverage.

Of course, aileron horns and servo bays got their 3D printed covers.

Tailplane is glued in place.

The choice went to balsa plank, to stay within the light version goals.

(The alternative is a 3D printed, profiled version, which will be used in next build.)

Bowden or rigid control?

The choice went to the rigid one.

KISS!

Or: there are better choices to balance flying models than lead.

That bottle fits perfectly the nose of this Heinkel. The foam block will keep it in place and will also serve as battery support.

Water or sand (in the bottle) will be used to bring the plane to the right balance.

The build of that version has come to an end.

Test flight has to wait a bit.

I'm heading Arctic circle in few days and am not sure to be able to test it before leaving, as this is priority now.

So that plane went in flight.

Today I finally found the right conditions, meteorological and mental, to test it.

Well, what should I say: it's impressive!

Speed and energy retention are amazing, despite the huge fuselage.

It only has a tendency to swing slightly on yaw axis, which could be expected due to negative sweep, very unstable settings at 3% static margin (and turbulent wind). I have to think a way to minimise that.

I'm really satisfied!

Oh no, I'm lost: I've only got 12 months to train and get used again to those amounts ...
