Altis V4

I'm hoping that someone please give me a bit of advice.

I've flown the RESCO a few times now and I'm really impressed how well it flies.

The next step is installing my Altis V4 using my PC and I'm encountering a little trouble with it. In the competition type in the PC menu there is no reference to F5RES so should I use a custom setting with the correct parameters? To start with I'm wanting to fly in the monthly postal challenge. And then the Silent Flight Nationals.

Is there any way of testing the settings at home without having to go to the flying field to see if the altitude switch works?

Any help appreciated.

An update.

I tried using a custom setting and programmed a motor run of 20 seconds. I then tested it but the motor didn't stop at the 20 second mark.

I then plugged the altis into my PC and I managed to get the flight log successfully.

I suspect I'm doing something not quite right for the Altis to not switch the motor off.

Also if you are testing on the bench.    As per the manual

Quote

Throttle start – competition starts when trottle output is higher than 1200μs

so you might not have opened the throttle enough for it to register as a valid run.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I did save the settings however in the interests of safety in the garage I didn't try full throttle.

I'll try it again with your advice.

Happy to report that it seems to now be working fine after running it at high throttle.

I'm hoping to fly it this evening so could well be posting a time.

I'm happy to report that I managed to get lots of flights yesterday evening but there was pretty much zero thermal activity so those flights were straight up and then around just over 2 minutes before touching ground again. The Altis worked fine and I managed to see the flight logs when I returned home.

Oh, and I was quite surpised at how low 60m is!

Hi Dave

This is what I have set up. It's for the F5L comp run to FAI rules. So the Altitude is 90m and the time switch is 30s. For the monthly duration challenge I would change to 60m and 20s like how yours is set. For the FxRES comps (best 6 of 10) I would change to 100m and 30s.

I like to know the height I launch to so I have the 'F5J altitude measurement' ticked. It shows on the display all the time so easy to check when I land. Mine is an Altis Nano so the display may be different to your Altis V4 which might show it anyway.

Regards, Richard.

Hi Dave,

Are you going to submit your flight to the July /August monthly duration Challenge? The post has already been setup by Martyn for August as he is on holiday. Looking forward to seeing your flight.

Thanks for the tip regarding the F5J altitude measurement. I've just set that on my Altis. As my flights the other evening were so pathetic I deleted them from mine and the Altis's memory so I'm going to have to choose a better day for my first August entry.

F5J altitude measurement will read the greatest height from motor OFF to motor OFF +10 seconds.
