I'm looking for a slope glider with more speed!

Currently flying a TJIRC Dream.

Suggestions of 2m+ models would be appreciated.

Can you get a ballast tube into the "Dream" fuselage? - to add more weight / speed

how much do you want to spend? - new or used ?

(whereabouts in Devon are you?)

I'm in plymouth in case anyone has a good condition F3F for sale.  I will try adding ballast to the dream. I'll try 60g first and see what effect that has.

As a future project I was looking at TJIRC Tempest or screamer. They're £700 and £400 new. I don't have any experience with those style gliders but plenty experience with F5j etc. Hence why I'm asking around to see what other people are flying.

We don't have any F3F style gliding around here.  Until this new guy showed up recently.  So now we're all buying new,  faster gliders.

I have a falcon ready to build in the garage.

Thanks for the offer.  Falcon as in 1.5m DLG? A bit light and fragile for the slope I think.  I already have a Doroshenko NG2 F5J which is similar. But I keep that away from the slopes.

No. Falcon as in 2.5 meter F3f type carbon glass hooligan ship.

Dream ballast - can it take wing ballast? 60g will have very little effect on a 1.5kg glider - better to think in terms of % flying weight - 60g is just 4% - to make a noticeable difference you will need at least 20% = 300g - better still at 50% = 750g. Modern F3Fs will ballast all the way up to 100% - thats a 2.2kg glider with 2.2kg ballast - ballistic in good lift.

Flying fast - its not just about the glider - its about how you fly it. To go fast you need to actively "drive" the plane using down elevator to get it moving. Gain height then dive in & keep it moving. Its a different style of flying from F5j floating around.

Screamer - same thing as Dream but with V-tail fus. Tempest - looks nice but T-tails are likely to break at the base on the fin.

Wyvern 😜 came in third at recent English open F3f.

It's a very capable model. If you want to buy new, it's a great choice.

I quite fancy filling the darkening evenings building. So my newly finished falcon will go up for sale. I always fit these toys out with king max servos and frames.

Recon £700 will give me the cash to make the next one.

If you want a decent model, that will be quick and also give you a taste of what F3F is all about, then go for the Falcon for 700 quid that Ian is offering

I've just had a Wyvern from him and the build quality is very good, and his models fly well.

If you get the F3F bug it will be a good model to fly and get you going.

If (somehow) you don't get the F3F bug, it will still be an excellent fast, fun slope model.
