One day competition to be held on either Saturday 12th or Sunday 13th October. Decision on best day for weather will be made late Wednesday 10th Oct or first thing on Thursday

The FXRES fixtures in 2024 have been hammered by rubbish weather early season and low interest in latter half of season, so here last chance to get a comp in for 2024 so please try and clear diary and make the commitment to attend. Last 5 years we've seen rather pleasant weather through September and October and with any luck we'll have a good day.

The format of the day is:

9:30 field opens
10:45 pilots briefing
11:00 to 15:00 competition window
15:15 fly offs and prize ceremony

Entry fee is £15, (which will be split between prize fund and fee to Landowner)
Location:
Farm Post Code is SY5 8PS
The field is diagonally opposite on the other side of the road and has a double steel gate.

This site is very easy to reach, and apart from a short final run along a good country road, is dual carriageway from the motorway network. Get to end of M54, follow signs for "A5 (West)" around Shrewsbury bypass until you reach roundabout near the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, and turn away from Town on the B4386 towards Montgomery, Cruckton is approx 1.5 miles along road, and field is on left hand side opposite farm building.

Field entrance is about 75 metres further along road via a pair of steel gates.....Sheep sometimes graze in the field so please keep these closed- if necessary herd any sheep away from the gate area when entering/leaving.  When leaving it is strongly recommended to turn left, drive 200 metres into hamlet and U turn at the junction......this is a fast country road and visibility of approaching traffic from either side of exit is very poor.

FXRES is a 2m soaring class with models constructed mainly from wood. Competitions are a variant of the FAI F3L provisional class, that has a simple format with a 4 hour window where competitors can fly up to 10 timed flights (6 min max), best 6 flights count and fly-off for as many people as possible. This allows F3L and F5RES events to compete alongside each other but have different score sheets. A competitor can fly both classes if they wish. Full set of rules is 7.24 in the SF rule book , BMFA membership is a must. F5RES height limiters set to 100m/30seconds, bungees are provided, please do not use your own.

It would help if competitors can express their interest by posting on this thread

I'll be there Lawrence and flying F3RES certainly - but may have an F5L model finished as well.

Confirming its Saturday 12th or Sunday 13th October

I'll do my very best on the weather arrangements! The Lulu build is still the next project parked on the building board, but afraid I got backed into some long overdue re-pointing work😬
