Weather permitting, I would like to head up on Saturday morning for a bit of flying before the comp on Sunday. 

Is it ok for me to just turn up and fly?

It's early days yet but xc shows great promise for next Sunday.

Great turnout and a shed load of rounds. Not a classic but the conditions kept everyone interested!

The 14 pilots managed 14 rounds despite the South Bowl not feeling at its best.
Still a dry day with the wind around 10m/s most of the time, what's not to like.

Difficult to guess the winners, but the final scores gave Greg Dakin a cracking win with Mark Redsell in second and Peter Gunning in third.
A close run comp with the top ten with a 900 and above score line!
FTD went to Mike Shellim with a great 38.56 in R1. Well done to all.

Thoroughly enjoyable day and with 14 rounds flown it was pretty non stop. 

Congratulations to the top 3 and thanks to Jon and Mark for running the show.

I had a bit of a mixed bag conditions wise, but managed to get my PB so am really happy with that 😀.

Another fun day, with challenging conditions. 

I can't recall just how many cut recoveries I performed over the 14 rounds, but it must have been around 10. Three in the first round of the day! 

On the plus side, unlike Brett, I was lucky to avoid a ****ty landing when the Device came to rest spanning a black sloppy bog.

Congrats to the top 3, and all the best to Pete, Mark and Andy, for the upcoming WC. It was a good test of fortitude today, so ideal training.

Glad you had many rounds and sorry I didn't make it up there. What happened with your landing Brett? And who was flying the black and pink glider? Looks like Maria's.

Steve Haley was flying the Pike Precision 2, very nice smooth open turns too 👍

A really good day out! Well done to Greg who flew a really nice high line all day and was super smooth on the sticks, a well desreved win. Mark was tight and consistent as ever 👍

Conditions never really 'built' as much as we would have hoped but there were some sub-40's in good air. There was also a fair bit of nasty fill/poor air but over 14 rounds I'm pretty sure we all had a taste of that.

Nice to get some more practice flying the 'Gallic' vertical style before France, once I found the bases it seemed to work quite well. It's a bit of a leap of faith as the run starts relatively slow and the first few of turns can make you question what the hell you are doing but as the speed starts to build it becomes fun. It relies on a smooth/constant application of elevator & no aileron until you are coming back the way and takes a bit of practice but I'm really enjoying the process of learning something new. In bad air, it doesn't work so well but nothing works in bad air except being neat and tidy and trying your best to minimise damage. On reflection, the couple of 50's I flew in poor air could probably have been worse doing something else, I tried changing the plan in the last round and it really didn't work so I'm sticking with plan A.

Thanks to Mark & Jon for organising us, 14 rounds is good going and a good work out for the launching arm!

Was great to be back out on the slope flying in a competition. Well done to the top 3, it really shows how the difference between a good pilot and a great pilot, is being able to make the most of poor air and still get a good time. 

I had one decent round, and then after that I just could not seem to fly the conditions right. My biggest issue was climbing out. I just could not get any decent height so I never entered the course with any speed. A few times I was able to build speed during the run for an ok time, but most rounds I just struggled all 10 legs. Was definitely my thumbs, cant blame the weather... lol

The wonderful landing mentioned above, consisted of a a very smooth approach, gently touchdown into the shrubs, and half my nose cone buried deep into a fresh, still warm, cow patty. 🤢

Just wanted to say a special well done to Tom on his first comp. Each flight got better and better and the last one was very impressive. The more comps you do, the more you will get the hang of it and it wont take long before you are competitive.
