Asking for a friend 😜 😊

What requirements are in place now for pilots and planes to compete in F3F competitions both local and international.

It has been many years since I last competed and I know there have been some changes, especially relating to model registration.

Also, do you have to be a member of a club to get licence and insurance? (SWSA doesn't seem to be operating any more) Or is it possible to get it straight from the BMFA?

Hoping to get sorted for some winter league fun 🤙

I probably should have put this in the main F3F section rather than the entries section, sorry. Is it able to be moved?

Minefield …!!!!

As far as I’m concerned for Winter leagues you need insurance (you can go direct to the BMFA) you’ll also need CAA drone ID to fly anything over 250g in the UK.

To fly in Europe gets interesting .For example I have an drone operator ID registered in Ireland which in theory allows me to fly in the EU ,however France also requires you to have a transponder ,this in WC recently was waived as they had a blanket ID for all competitors as we were only flying on recognised sites ,you still had to register and have an ID for each aircraft.

And for a eurotour event you’ll need an FAI licence number aswell ..through the BMFA

Hope this helps a little Skip

You only need a transponder if you are not flying at a registered club site.

Wookman, I take it you are referring to flying abroad ( France as per Andy's comment).  As there is no requirement yet to carry a transponder in the UK wherever the flying site is.  LMA registered heavyweight models over 25kg may have to, I can't comment on those models.

Sorry guys, one more question. Does the operator ID need to be visible while flying? Or just on the model somewhere?

I was getting ready to chuck it on the flaps

The operater I’d needs to on the plane in a place that does need tools to be accessed.
So inside a taped on nose cone is ok.
