My original V1 SM GPS Logger has the same 10Hz data rate but doesn't have the 3 axis accelerometer - that was introduced with the the V2 version.
However all versions, including the latest SM GPS-Logger 3, have the following in the manual :-

"Maximum acceleration 4g (that refers only to position detection, the module is constructed using SMD techniques and can withstand substantially higher acceleration)"

I believe the 4G positional limit is calculated in the GPS unit software rather than being an accelerometer measured value. That sort of makes sense for the vast majority of GPS applications as greater than 4G is unlikely to occur in normal life.

None of that matters if the device does what you want it to, and the GPS devices certainly work brilliantly in GPS Triangle flying etc. I only posted in case anyone experimenting comes up with odd results like mine.

Also from what I can tell, over 4G it is a crystal oscillator that can start to misbehave so performance might vary with  different components.

Some datapoints of f3f practice…

the points are regular and matches to what I saw during the flight. Max G-forces were between 5 to 7.  The logger loggs g-force, height, datapoints and you can easily import them to google earth and have a debriefing of your practice.

Marcus, is that data stored and taken from the GPS unit?

Or is it the recording on the Jeti transmitter from the information received?

Data came from the gps logger itself. Btw I’m using opentx (frsky taranis).

Interessting is: ones the gps logger found sattelites, this little device is working even when the gps antenna is pointing down (to the ground) ! This is kind of magic to me.

I have been wondering about inverted turns. As you have it working on Taranis with OpenTx would you please explain which files go where on the SD because looking at Barneys Readme I can't get it to work! Also for the latest EdgeTx, if you happen to know.

In fact I am using a different lua script on opentx. This version was written by me and barney in the beginnig.  The later version from barney on github is different and I never looked in it. So sorry I can not help. Best to ask barney for info.
