In is waterproof casing it also quite heavy. I'll try it on my Pike Perfect first and see how I get on.
RustyKnee Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 The Hero2 does look interesting, I have the hero1 (but I broke it ). I did attach it to my Vikos in not the best lift and it was fine. You could "feel" it on there and yes you wouldn't help win a race . But the footage is nice, and the comparisons I have seen of the hero 2 have moved things on positively. Also the adjustable field of voew option is nice addition if it works well. Plus the 120fps low res option. It is a lot better than the #11 fob, but like most things not by the same ratio as the cost difference. I did have the hero 2 on order, but cancelled as I broke my phone and need a replacement for that. I have seen some really cool footage with gopro. Some on the wing tip, even one attached to a winch tow just under the shute Mine only broke due to my dodgy modding . Stu
Gonesoaring2003 Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Stu, There used to be someone on Ebay (I think) advertising a repair service for Gopros and the like. Alex
RustyKnee Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Cheers Alex, I can probably sort ot my self...I just need to get off my **** and do it rather than playing call of duty Stu
Gonesoaring2003 Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Are U playing MW3 - i've done the campaign mode and am working through Special missions, but find the online very frustrating - lots of 8 yr old kids that r way too good!!!!

Rooster-X Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Its a tough crowd flying in the Far East, listen to the laughter when he cuts a base, its just not cricket! Mmmm, I wonder how long the waiting list is

Joel, have you tried the Go pro on a model yet, I got one for my birthday and just wondered if you had any tips for mounting it and what resolution to use etc? Cheers Alex
RustyKnee Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Only found out about the 16 today actually...spooky. With that firmware that is that vid the white balance stability looks good....that is my biggest grudge about my 11. Looks promising.
Bobbyr Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Totally agree Stu , Also you can change the battery . Although its a nice little camera to put on a plane , is it worth spending another £25 on . #11 image in good light is excellent , but when its grey and murky its not as good as the #3 IMHO (Still have both) The Hero 2 is so much better , just overprised Maybe soon they will do a 720p at 60fps . then i will buy another 808 camera Till then i shall just use what ive got , sometimes its great results , others it get deleted before it is edited. Bob
Mr Ed Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 I have the Flycam 2, nowhere near as good as the new 808 cams but I won't change up as I have only used it half a dozen times. If I start flying and shooting more then a #16 will enter my life. I spend. Lot of time turning down the offer of a loan of. goPro from a biker in the office. Id hate to have to buy her a new one when the sticky tape fell off my wing…
RustyKnee Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Yeah just ordered a 16. Brill that the battery is connectorised....Might rehouse it and fit a bigger battery. The hero 2 is over priced here in the uk like most things. Hopefully uniquesquared will hopefully do the hero2 soon, thats where I got me hero (1) from, and it was about 220 quid (hero 2 is same prce as hero was, hero now cheaper)...me and my mate managed to avoid import from them. I think 220 ish is a perfectly reasonable price given that they are good enough quality to be seen on TV almost every day now (Top Gear, Gadget Show, Driving Wars, pretty much any actions show) and with the housing and mounts it comes with. Even have some at work now for use above and below water. Jenson USA have them for the same money (retail) but I get taxed when I have used them.
Bobbyr Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Let us know how the #16 works out Stu , be nice to see some footage first hand . Bob
RustyKnee Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Will do...its coming from china...so will be a couple of weeks.
jwest532 Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Joel, have you tried the Go pro on a model yet, I got one for my birthday and just wondered if you had any tips for mounting it and what resolution to use etc? Cheers Alex Hi Alex sorry for the late reply, the only trouble with this thread being pinned is that I forget to look at it I'm going to have a go at mounting it over the next couple of day so will let you know how I get on.
Gonesoaring2003 Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Thanks Joel, I've been thinking I might mount the camera without the housing, probably with some sort of tape. Alex
Elliot Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 I filmed this today on my gopro hd at my local spot. It's mounted in its waterproof case over the cg on my 2m typhoon. It needed a lot of up trim and felt like the wind shadow created by the cam and mount was affecting the flow over the tail.Might be something to consider in a big blow with a lot of airspeed.I am going to try mounting it on the wing next.
