Just thought it would be a good idea to post here that Mike Stern (GBR) is through to the FLY OFFS in the first F3K World Championships. Having flown with him on many occasions it is no surprise to me that his unflappable style has worked so well for him there. The opportunity of getting into the Flyoff was less than a full glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, but Mike went for it and thoroughly deserves his flyoff position, in the toughest F3K competition ever staged.

In heroic fashion, in the last but one of the preliminary rounds Mike shrugged off a mid-air then flew beyond his visual range and control was lost temporarily, but he regained control and made it back to the box for the 1000 points. With just the 3 x 3min task to fly, he required a great score to get him through.

The 3 maxes all came for Mike.Clawing his way back up the table from around 20th place, he only dropped 39 points to the leaders in a total of 8000 points.Boy that must have been good spectating! :thumbsup:

Hi Austin,

Yes there is a website (although there were problems initially) please see...http://www.f3k-wc-2011.se/

The Flyoffs are to be flown on Saturday 9th July. Nick Chitty and Richard Swindells are also there, having just failed to meet the challenge. Nick is posting data as it happens (from his phone) at the FlyQuiet site. Mike Fantham is the Team Manager and he has been talking and timing for Mike Stern, so please join me tomorrow in cheering "COME ON THE MIKES!" Best regards to all,

Jef
