Cracking day at the rock

Great day at the rock last Sunday. Some special models and good company.

Just too windy for any decent aerial shots, so have to make do with statics.

Wossat first one?

Tis a home brew (not mine), Valhalla. Fully moulded, lead sled and absolutely gorgeous. First time in big air and it flew great; want one. Well done Ian.

Hi Paul,

Nice looking day, would have been there but for the power clubs comps were on (and one of them got cancelled as too windy....)

Good to see Ian got there in the end, when I saw him at the Nats he'd had some plug issues, how's it fly?

How heavy etc?

Video...?

Looks like it was up past 50mph from the pics?

Cheers

Rob

Hi Rob

We wondered where you and Andy were.

I arrived at 8.30 by which time the wind was already 40+mph and just possible for me to launch the Stingray by myself, but it continued to freshen throughout the day and was gusting 60-70mph by the afternoon, but somehow felt stronger. But it stayed sunny so not too cold.

I was drawn to Ian's Valhalla like a moth to light, but too dumb to ask him any technical questions. It flew really well and he's going to be inundated with requests when others see it.

Julian and Will took some video but the wind was getting too strong to hold anything steady and it flew like a missile so all media of it flying was mashed I think - my photos certainly were.

Paul

cliffhanger

heres something similar , reasonable cost aswell

Bob

Yeah saw that the other day.

48" span, if it comes out at 900gr it would give ~18 oz/sq.ft wing loading.

Throw in a front spinner and the cost is ~£75 + shipping!

Nice fast wing section, prolly go like sh*t off a shovel.

Tempting- Shame they're out of stock!

I too had stumbled upon it about a week ago. The review comments suggest that a lot of mods are needed before it would be usable for our purposes, but it's not a bad starting point. Maybe needs its own thread?

I think that you're going to rather like it Mark. Lead sleds aren't usually my kind of thing, but the Valhalla would be.

Come on mate, hurry up.
