Easy access slopes in Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and N.Y. Moors

Hi Guys

I'm taking a trip up to Lancaster for a wedding soon and thought I really ought to do some slope soaring whilst I'm up there as there aren't many here in N.Essex. I found a site that listed a lot of slopes in the Lake District with pretty icons showing the wind directions they worked in but I can't find it now! I'd like to fly at the Hole of Horcum but need to know what direction the wind has to be for the slopes to work. Ideally I'd like to visit slopes that were reasonably easy to access as anything too energetic is difficult for me now.

I've not booked accommodation yet so am free to choose where I go for the best hills. Wedding on Thursday 2nd August, plan to fly Friday, Saturday and Sunday if weather permits.

Hi Tony,

HoH is a lovely place to fly, http://www.nymrsc.org.uk/ follow the link and you get all the details you require. Note you will need to contact them before flying to pay for temporary pass. I think it's only a few pounds but at least you covered.

Hawes NW wind park and fly, 50 min drive from Lancaster, Tow Scar SW wind park and walk (20 min), 35 min drive from Lancaster everything else is a climb I'm afraid. I can meet you if I'm not busy flying somewhere else in the country ;)

Thanks Martin & Tom.

I've had a look through the North Yorks Moor Soaring site, maybe better to join for a month then I can fly on my own at HoH.

Tom, I plan to move to another B&B away from Lancaster to be nearer some slope sites. I found the list of sloping sites in the Lake District again - http://www.cumbriaso...gleMapSites.php - not sure I noticed that it was for Paragliders and Hand Gliders :(
