Re-fixing Typhoon Rudder

Recommended Posts

When I built my Typhoon the rudder movement to the left (wiper going into the tail) was very stiff so following instructions some judicious sanding was done to the hinge inside the tail to relieve this.

All seemed OK till a forced landing on a hard surface in Cornwall recently resulted in complete parting of the rudder from the fin :(

Inside is effectively a flat surface for the hinge replacement rather than a nice V groove. So do I use silicone inside or Diamond tape outside? (I still have some :) ) or perhaps both?

If I lay Diamond outside and run a bead of silicone inside, will this be too much, stiff?

But to be honest the rudder hinge isnt flat as i proved to Tony Fu .

So leave the tape on
