Have a good day guys. Hope you have better look than us today. We had lots of low cloud and snow. So we didn't manage to get a comp in.:-(

Forecast for the day http://www.xcweather.co.uk/forecast/Petersfield

I've managed to free up a good part of the day, sadly not enough to make it worth me entering the comp though :( .

I'l be coming along for a few hrs to help out with anything & also take some piccies of the days events.

Well what a good day we had today on Butser N/N-East wind most of the time, this made for some interesting conditions at times.

Simon was the pick of us today but I think we all had our share of good air at times. let me thank the Meon club for the use of the hill today and all the help from the pilots and helpers.

Simon Thornton 6945.29
John Phillips 6507.45
John Bennett 6497.81
Rob Coles 6188.46
Martin Drewitt 6076.76
Dave Rumble 6007.81
John Fox 5682.32
Tony Robertson 5628.57
Tony Livingstone 5627.29
Phil Tayor 5394.12
Graeme Mahoney 5340.33
Ian Falconer 1288.13
Alex Maryon-Davis 720.81

shame Ian and Alex only managed a couple of flights but I'm shore they will be back for more.

Very enjoyable day with quite tricky conditions and learned a lot as a result. Very happy with my position which can best be described as 'averagely consistent'. No fast times but no duff times either.

Big thank you to JP for running the day.

As Arnie said...."I'll be back"

Cant remember recording so many 60+ second times before!

Rob deserved his 4th place and Simon showed us all how to do it as usual - well done

Thanks JP for organising and running the show

Well I must say, that was a very pleasant days flying. Luckily the sun shone throughout to help keep us warm, the full size glider kept out of our way,  the wind kept blowing (just about at times), and the snow stayed away.

Thanks to Jon Simon and Tony for running the centre, and all the rest for manning the buzzers.

It was nice to meet up again with some of the newer faces, shame it was so hectic with only 12 flyers to get to chat much.

That was my third outing with the Willow, and I am thoroughly enjoying flying it

What was interesting was that the guy who bought my pink Ellipse 1 many many harvest moons ago (my first mouldie) said it is still flying at Cape Town in South Africa. That model still holds my fastest time at 34.xx at the Hole of Horcum. Good to hear it is still flying :)

Good news on getting a comp on in, wish I could have joined you, sadly medical reasons at the moment mean no flying for me for a while.

Did you manage many rounds?

With those scores it was 8 rounds with 1 discard.

Still a good number of rounds especially if every flight was apprx 1 minute long.

Congrats Simon !

Excellent day out on a beautiful spot - sunshine for most of the day - good company & a nice relaxed atmosphere

Challenging flying - variable crossed wind/lift & base B downwind & hiding in the bushes - made it interesting

Good fun flying both the Ceres and the new Ellipse - very different planes - really chalk & cheese - the Ellipse can still shift when it gets on step, but much harder to get round the corners without losing the speed - Ceres can bounce off the turns when needed.

Didnt care about the times / places - I was just enjoying the day

Did anyone get any pics of the new/old Ellipse doing its thing?

Phil.
