Brilliant video and a very good pilot I think. The speed and EM type turns are amazing.

We saw him flying up at Bishop Hill from the Scottish Gliding centre at Portmoak, with shark teeth on the front of his glider looking very cool. He was clearly a very good pilot doing manouvres that you don't often see the full size doing.

I just googled the registration and found this, http://www.minehead-today.co.uk/News.cfm?id=14697&headline=Glider%20pilot%20swims%20to%20safety%20after%20crash

It looks like he must have pushed the limits a little too far and G-DDYX is no longer. I'm sure he is still flying though

Phil Taylor, Ian Mason and I were flying at Beer Head the afternoon this video was shot, which is the eastern extremity of these speed runs (cliff on the left). As soon as the pilots saw we were there, they did their turns a few hundred yard sooner. We do not seem to have made it into the video, though.

Chris - where ya been for the last 2 years ?  ;)

well worth watching again though

As John says, we were flying off those cliffs - in 40+mph wind & big lift

I contacted the pilot - they were cruising along the cliffs at over 100 knots

later event - "shark goes swimming" - pilots story here:
