Hi Alan,  I'm the builder of the 40% ASG29 that Simon Thornton linked you to the build thread of (great grammar that!).

If you want any help or advice just PM me and I'll send you my personal email address.  We may even have met if you fly in Kent and South Downs?

As mine was a full composite build my 2 part fuselage solution might not be completely right for you - it's probably easier on a built up construction to be honest.

If you have ANY PROSPECT of going over 20Kg my strong advice would be for you to register with the Large Model Association now as they are very helpful and supportive as long as they are involved as early as possible - but it might be a nightmare if you bring them in at the end.  I don't know who Mr Stephson is but he needs to be one of the LMA guys to help you because the CAA rely on the LMA and only the LMA.

My glider is about 23 Kg but I knew it was going to be a very heavy (strong!) build so I knew the 20 Kg limit was a risk from the get-go.

It may well be that you will be able to easily get under the 20Kg but if there is any doubt, join the LMA now - it is the best £30 I've ever spent!  The quarterly magazine you get is excellent and inspiring too!

Since this is a scale project and the engineering issues at 50% scale aren't going to be much different from 100%, isn't the best guide to construct the fuselage in the same way as the full-size plane? If this is too big to fit in your car, you could emulate full-size practise and build a trailer for transport.

Great stuff Alan - are you going to be working with John Greenfield?  He was my Inspector and was great - he'd be even better for you as he is a master builder of wooden large scale models

Looks great , will watch this thread with interest .

You must be very proud of it as you appear to have given it its own bedroom
