Round 3 SWSA F3F Winter league

From AJ, let's hope we have similar conditions to the WoollyBacks:

Hi All

Right excuse my paranoia but I am starting to think this seasons winter league is cursed! Anyway we will try again Sunday 19 January (I am starting to sound like a broken record) to get a competition in for the SWSA F3F winter league. I will make a call Friday if the competition is on and if so more details of meeting times.

If I can have entries by Saturday I would be grateful as it helps with organising the flying order and get things running on the day. However, if you wake up Sunday morning and decide at the last minute you want to fly you will more than welcome, but you might find yourself early in the flying order!

If you are thinking about having a go in F3F the winter league is a great place to start, it's all pretty informal and don't worry if you haven't got the latest state of the art carbon fibre dream machine to have a go. Sure it nice to have but it is more important that you have a go at standing in the centre of a course and trying to fly a kilometre as fast as you can with what ever plane you have got. Better to find out flying a foamie that F3F is for you than spending thousands only to find out you have made an expensive mistake!

Looking forward to seeing you all Sunday

Andrzej

This from AJ:

Hi All

Right, it look we are in real danger we will get a competition in on Sunday, so the Winter League is on.

The wind forecasts have been flipping between Mickey's and the back or the Wrecker over the last 48 hours although it is looking more like Mickey's now.

We will meet at the "T" junction and head up to the slope at 09:30. Just to let you know there is a degree of change ongoing between over the farmers over the land and Jonathan who currently open the gate for us has asked that we keep the gate closed. He would like us to pull the gate closed and by putting open pad lock through the hasp to keep the gate closed. So if you turn up late please pull the gate closed and put the lock through. I have raised concerns about us getting locked in but Jonathan has assured me that he will be within five minutes of the gate all day if someone locks it.

So looking forward to seeing you all Sunday and all the best

Andrzej

Yesterday was a nice day out. Thanks AJ, Simon, Martin and Joel for a well-run comp. Pitbull is licking its wounds, and I am wondering how I can fly faster.

Well done top 3,  Some very good flying with a mix of EM and FR styles.  The climbout / pumping seems more relevant than ever to being competitive

Got my mojo back, the low cloud/clag cleared up just in time!

Clive Henry Jones

Apologies for the lack of photographs but I guess the server was busy last night as apart from the one that got through, I was refused upload! I shall try again tonight, kids permitting. :)

Just to fil a few blanks, Tony was flying an Energic (I believe)

Chris Studley an Air One.

I did not know that "touch and goes" were a part of your repertoire, John but I was impressed anyway. Pitbull 1, Hill 0.

Clive.

Well done Simon, Abbo and Joel, great to see Abbo on the money flew the caldera really well all day.  Simon is looking good with the FS4's as well.

Really good to see everyone trying different styles producing positive results.

Big thanks to AJ for organising and running the comp, weather almost put pay to the day but worth the wait. Jjust wish someone could have moved base B about 6 inches closer to the centre, then may be I wouldnt have missed it in 3 - 4 consecutive rounds :(

Thanks

Martin
