Aresti 2m from Sloperacer

Worth having a rate switch I think,

£5 an hour?

No seriously it looks like a nice model for flying big aeros with some ballast onboard as well as light twiddling stuff, and a couple of rate settings would make flying a very versatile experience.

Hi John,

Where do you normally fly? Is it still Milk Hill etc? I will pop down and you can have a go.

Mike will be in touch and we can meet up for a fly.

Dave Woods flies the beast at Firle in okay conditions. The lens fogs up at the end for some reason.

Overall I think Dave enjoyed flying Jim and Tony's new creation.

Another video of me flying:

Weather looks good for Wednesday so the plan is to go to the Orme and fly. Jonathan Wells should be there. So I will try to shoot a video with a better camera.

Hi Greg,

Ha - I don't go sloping very often these days, I fly electric. (and race model yachts) but could meet up at Milk Hill, Butser, Whitesheet, Harting, based Southampton way.

Nice to See Dave on the sticks!

cheers,

John

It would indeed be more beneficial to see it do something more than loops rolls and stall turns .......dare I say it that we were treated to a better display of this by the Dark Lord with his needle 115  on Sunday in what was below legal racing windspeed with over 1kg of ballast .

Just saying .. :)

Sorry guys too many loops and stall turns.

Just trying to keep it close to the camera which is a GoPro.

Will try harder when we have access to a better camera.

Greg, looking at the videos it looks like you have the gopro set up wrong. I will check mine later and let you know.

Greg,

try another Go Pro setting (medium mode ) w/o the fisheye.

Try to have the model always centered,  this should be  good to fly 80-100m away .

In addition editing software (Drenaline)  to zoom in video ~20%  helps.

done here with a 1,5 m model

Question.

Modes I have are:

WVGA60

WVGA120

720-30

720-60

960-30

960-40

1080-30

There is no medium mode

Which is the best mode for filming models?

I don't use a go pro, but the resolution of most cameras is now much higher than needed for video of a respectable standard.

So while the go pro has no zoom don't be frightened of using a magnification in the editing. Once zoomed in you can reposition the frame to get a "cut" as well.

Useful for adding in stabilization, although that can be a lot of work to do manually.

Cheers for tips.

Set with suggested settings.

Will try again.

Thank you

IMPRESSIVE.......Jonathan Wells is so relaxed in DS flying that he performs a rolling circle in the DS loop with the new 2.75m Aresti aerobat. Jonathan's flying speaks for itself and the Aresti was not designed as a DS glider...remarkable.

Just gives us something to aim at !

Hi Kevin,

Haven't seen you for ages, hope you're well.

I don't particularly like this video (well my flying anyway) as it was my very first flight with the ArestI 108 and I was flying it opposite mode.  If Tony or Greg let me have another go I will fly it the correct mode (2)...haha

See you on top of a hill soon.

Cheers,

J
