Welsh Open 2014 (no curry)

LS8-18

Recommended Posts

Thanks for this wonderful weekend with friends and the work of AJ and Kev to make the Welsh Open possible again.

I cleaned out my web album with the pictures, maybe I will add some more later on:

My scariest moment at the weekend was launching Kev's f.... heavy Ceres. I'm not a really good launcher and it nearly proofed to be correct but with a lucky end. My thoughts were: "Damn... really heavy this plane." At the edge: "Damn where is the wind and lift. That's not good." After chucking: "F... it's lost." I couldn't see his flight because I was so upset with myself. At the end I or even more Kev had a lucky punch and got a 39 at least even or because of that marvelous launch :D

Personally I'm not happy with my flying but at the good side I have still a lot space for improvement ;-)

At least thanks a lot JP to support my chocolate addiction :D

Some great pictures there Daniel.  I like the rapid time lapse shots

Forgot to mention. If there is wish to have a closer look to the results I could upload it to F3X Vault. For that I would need the scoring sheet.

What I would love to see is what gliders were used by whom...

It was a lot of fun, despite the initial fog and lack of wind. I hope our visitors enjoyed themselves - the third day made up for the initial slow progress. Many thanks to Kevin, Rich and especially AJ for giving up so much of his free time.

A couple of standouts for me: the overall standard of flying continues to improve. Also it was good to see pumping demonstrated to such good effect. Awesome!

Hi Daniel,

Our team name should have been Myndgers as we are all local fliers of the Long Mynd.

I was flying a Freestyler 4.3

Cheers

Mike

Thank you Daniel.  Very interesting info.  I was intrigued to see I failed to get in the top 20 fastest times but overall average times I was 5th!
