Well I need not have worried about the slope to be on; the SW winds did not arrive. :(

But Southerly ones did! Yeehaa, south bowl it was. Still we had a slight wait until the wind reached the magical legal limit, but from then on it was all go.

The later start and earlier lighting up time meant we couldn't complete as many rounds as last time, but still managed a creditable 7, at a rate of one very half hour, which was good going for the eager 16 pilots.

Mark Treble's new Android software completed its first full competition, which apart from giving the results the instant the last man flew, will allow smart phones to log on and view live scoring. Great work Mark.

And finally the results. Mark Redsell won, Martin Newnham second and a terrific third place for Paul Upton. ( New fatherly duties have kept him away from the slope of late, so congratulations to Paul ). FTD when to Martin with a 50.85. Well done guys.

Summary results are :-

1        Mark Redsell            5973.700       1000

2        Martin Newnham      5807.170       972

3        Paul Upton               5601.860       938

4        Peter Gunning           5600.310       937

5        Greg Dakin               5520.040       924

6        Ronnie Lampe          5510.370       922

7        Mark Treble              5486.630       918

8        Rich Bago                 5452.910       913

9        Jon Edison                5259.540       880

10      Neil Shead                5116.210       856

11      Keith Wood              5106.760       855

12      John Tideswell         5020.060       840

13      George Young          4940.430       827

14      Roger Groves           4583.690       767

15      Bob Dickenson         4350.980       728

16      Roy Hampshire        3954.280       662

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Full results to follow

A good day out, thanks Jon & Mark. I look forward to logging in for live scores in future.

I had good fun experimenting and swapping models in the light air. Learnt a lot.

Only my second comp with my sub 2 meter model and even though my times are not setting the world on fire I am really enjoying the flying and learning plenty (good confidence builder as well).

For anyone thinking of giving it a go I would say "do it", its not easy but it's also not as hard as you may think and it really is good fun.

Thanks Jon & Mark for a well run comp

A good day (when the sun came out), good flying and good company.

I hope the last two guys made it off the slope ok in the dark......

Reminds me that i need a bit more dedication for 2015.

Yes, even a white model looks black eventually. Nice to have the chance to tear about the slope though - 5min climb-out rather than 30s has some advantages...

Thanks again everyone for a great days flying, although we wasn't ripping up the slope with sub forties it was still quality racing.

Well done Mark and great to see Paul Upton out for a bit of fresh air still showing he hadn't lost his touch.

Great day out - congrats to Mark, Martin and Paul for showing the way, and to Jon and helpers for hosting a slick event.

The conditions experienced always make me realise just how poor my flying is in 3m/s on a low compression ridge - so challenging

to fly a model efficiency around the course and hit the bases without scrubbing speed......lots to learn.

Cheers

Greg

Hi Guys

Just a quick reminder that Round 3 of the Northern Winter League at Horcum is this Saturday 10th Jan.

Judging by the current weather forecast, it looks like we are in for a wild ride!!

As usual, the final call will be made Friday evening

What a forecast!

But is it flyable?

Well probably, and that is why I am calling the comp ON!

As long as we can stand up on Levisham it should be fun :-)

Ok, meet at Levisham, it clearly is on there, at 9:30 with a view to starting as soon as the rain blows through

See in the morning

Jon
