Hmm! Gusts to 25m/s forecast. Should be very interesting on the edge at Levisham. Good luck guys, you'll need it. Take plenty of models.

Oh dear, one slope too far!

Steady winds around 18 to 20m/s were not the problem, the gusts were the killers!

Short bursts over 35m/s, but some longer term of over 25m/s

Apart from the difficulty of just standing on the slope edge, landings became an issue.

Then the only shower of the day brought some sense to proceedings, and we called it a day.

No rounds were attempted.

Several models were damaged in the making of this report :-(

I think that Mark T and myself had the best flying of the day with EPP.

Hi Guys

Well here's hoping for better weather this coming weekend for Round 4 of the Northern Winter league.

Current forecast is 12-20mph NNW, but with snow on the ground, will be a tad cool.

As usual final call on Friday evening

Hi Guys

Well that was a difficult day!

Forecast wind speeds didn't materialise as promised, but bumbled along the 3m/s most of the time.

The NW slope hosted the flightline, with the wind more or less square on.

Foggy start, which actually cleared very quickly, allowed a prompt start for the 13 pilots.

Four rounds were completed before a lull in wind speeds forced a break for lunch.

Following lunch, average winds speeds appeared greater than the morning session, but flight times were no better.

By now ,the melting snow had found its way into even the best waterproof clothing, and with a few pilots complaining of wet feet, the competition was stopped after Round 7 at 15:45.

The walk back was is always hard after a day on the slopes, but many thanks to everyone who mucked in and carried the various bits of kit back. Special thanks to the two strangers who helped carry my models up the final hill to the car!

The results, Peter Gunning took top spot, Mark Redsell in second and Ronnie Lampe in third. Peter also took FTD with a round busting 49.42. Well done guys.

The summary results are :-

1 Peter Gunning 5713.12 1000.00

2 Mark Redsell 5566.87 974.40

3 Ronnie Lampe 5529.05 967.78

4 Rich Bago 5330.40 933.01

5 Mark Treble 5241.38 917.42

6 Martin Newnham 5208.23 911.62

7 Keith Wood 5145.63 900.66

8 Dave Wright 5051.20 884.14

9 Jon Edison 5035.89 881.46

10 George Young 4996.64 874.59

11 John Tideswell 4936.07 863.98

12 Neil Shead 4890.88 856.07

13 Bob Dickenson 2872.83 502.84

Full results wil be on the NYMRSC web site by tomorrow.

But right now I'm warm, got my feet up and can't be arsed to do anything else :)

Cheers

Jon

Great job today Jon to keep things moving in difficult circumstances.

Needless to say I really enjoyed it :0)

The live scoring was working a treat too, nifty work from Mark Treble!

Thanks to Jon and willing helpers for a good day out. The CD needed a thick skin today with all the barracking/banter which was most entertaining at times! I was one of those with cold and WET feet! Cosy now at home.

Well done guys - it's been flat calm here in the Midlands with constant cloud cover, so I'm amazed that you got a comp in.

Congrats Pete, looks like the 3 m/s conditions suited the FS3 rather well.....

Cheers,

Greg

An enjoyable day with all its ups and downs.

The combination of me and FS3 didn't produce quite the same result as Peter.
