I use XC for the mynd which normally proves reasonably accurate,

Based on this at the moment It looks ok but I will leave the decision until later this afternoon.

COMP IS ON

See you all 9.00am car park at the top of the Burway.

(If you don't know where this is,  Just head up the hill from Church Stretton High street)

Forecast is for a  damp and cloudy day with s - SE winds. getting brighter later.

With the current forecast we should be able to complete the comp and hopefully we will not be forced to BAIL......... ;)

Mike

Having looked at the forecast this morning, I've decided to stay at home too.  The odds of getting a comp in are just too small.

I leave the decision to xc and it is still just showing cloud rather than rain. So still have my fingers crossed.

From here at home my decision looks wrong.  Sun is shining and light wind.  :)

But the forecast other than XC is bad for LM, so my feelings of flu coming on help my justification.

Anyway, for those that do go, I hope you get some comp in ................. praps ??  ;)

For our recent first Southern Winter lg comp, the weather we experienced on the day was very much brighter, sunnier, drier, and more windy than either the BBC, XC or Met Office forecasts had been forecasting for the whole week week prior to the comp.

Hoping the same occurs for you 'Nasty Midlanders' today

Have a great  day, I look forward to hearing how the day goes.

Current radar the red dot is church stretton, the red represents heavy rain, there are always chances of gaps in the rain. Fingers crossed with entry you get a chance to fly.

The weather did go nice - around 1.15pm wind was 10 -13 m/s and initially very smooth.

It did become bumpy a little later but was nice and fast FS4.3 with 1100g was running sub 40.

Left around 3.45 as some more rain looked threatening.

Sorry comp didn't happen and it was always a bit of a long shot, but I have decided that XC weather makes the call for me. It seems a fairer way rather than it being my subjective view - that may be tainted by if I fancy staying in bed or not.

Well done Mike for your organisation and enthusiasm.  Pity about the weather today.  My first 2 events in last Novembers were both in great weather, so I was a bit disappointed with todays - hoping for better.

Do you ever arrange a reserve/alternative day?  Rest of Nov is no-go for me though.

Mike, please be aware I did not mean anything derogatory by "rubbish weather" comment. Les was just trying to get forum working on my phone and I sent it as something of a test message.

Nothing personal meant about your call on the weather.

O well there's always next month, fingers and toes crossed.

It was good to catch up with some old faces and the coffee in the cafe was excellent.

Looking at the absence of rain this afternoon, I was beginning to regret not going!

Sounds like you had a good couple of hours of sports flying anyway, so not an entirely wasted day.
