Access to the Bwlch

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys. Firstly I'm not sure whether I'm posting this in the right place, I may be better posting it in the F3F side, but we'll see. I have been asked to help organise a PSSA event for later in the year at the Bwlch in S Wales. Now I know this area well as I live in S Wales and regularly fly the Bwlch. However, as an individual, flying up there is not a problem but, the rights to the area are owned by a local farmer who I understand charges for "organised events". He also has a key to the access gate for Mickeys slope, which we certainly would need should the wind be blowing from the west or south west. My problem is that I cannot seem to get contact details for the farmer. I have asked local F3F guys, Clayton (Skippy) and Andrzej (AJ)but neither seem to know. I have even dropped an email to Kevin Newton but I haven't received a reply as yet. So, if anyone out there happens to have contact details for the farmer, I would love to hear from you.

Steve,

as far as I know, we don't even get vehicular access to Mickeys for the National championship and league events anymore. That may change, however the last I heard was that the farmers were being a bit 'tricky'.

I believe 'kit gloves' have been worn when approaching them as access was becoming a bit precarious.

I believe the gate is controlled by the Forestry and access is very restricted due to safety, especially when logging is taking place.

Peace money is also an issue that has to be broached when organising an event.
