The 2015 F3J European Championship is underway in Dupnitsa Bulgaria. The British team of Peter Allen, Graham Wicks and Colin Paddon with helpers Kevin Dart, Ian Duff and Andre Borrossi.  Have finished the first day with mixed results but the team is bonding well. Colin damaged one model on the practise day when the back of the fuselage left the rest of the model in a high wind launch, the rest of the model landed safely inverted. Although he wanted this model as one of his three a located model he did bring 4 so is still in the game.

In the comp Peter had a mid air which removed his fin. He got the model down safely but has lost his light model which will make it harder in the morning light winds and light lift.

the weather is very hot, 38C yesterday and will be the same all week. At lunch time the wind gets up and it gets harder to find and stay in lift.

I will try to get some more information and photos when time permits, it's quite hectic being a manager.

Kev, thanks for posting. I will move this to the F3J section and good luck guys. Weather looks great for the competition.

Some scores posted after 3 rounds.

It got a bit hot for the locals yesterday.

Was this the "jury" meeting then?  (I like the fact the nest has been fitted with a night-light for the youngsters, these Bulgarian birds think of everything)

After a 6 round Fly Off.

1st Place Arijan Hucaljijk (Croatia)
2nd Place Jan Littva (Slovakia)
3rd Place Dominik Prestele (Germany)

Arijan dropped only 0.9 pts over 6 rounds in the fly off, pretty impressive.

Would like to see the flight times as it looked to be launch and land weather.

Hi all,

Final recovered from the long comp. The flyoffs where unfurtunatly launch and land flights, 1 to 2 seconds launches with 100 pionts in the last second required.

All the team performed realy well, Peter and Graham flying out each slot, there scores would easily win our comps in the UK. We are slow launching and we all need to practise landings, 90 to 95 points is not enough at this level.

The towers were great always ready for action and never complained in the 40+ C temperatures. Thanks Kevin Dart, Ian Duf and Andre.

As is now tradition we had a maga storm. This time minutes after the last flyoffs.  Many shelters where flattened  and the UK team where hanging onto the large tent for model storage in the rain and wind with thunder and lighting all around. Probably not a great idea hanging onto metal poles in those conditions but all our models were in there.

Dispite our struggles we had a great time and met many new friends and reacquainted ourselves with old friends. Much laughter could be heard around the field usually starting in our camp. Thanks team for a great time.
