Hello all.

Just dragged out and refurbed my slope soarer. Also bought a big Medicine Man (RCM&E 1983) on ebay which turns out to have a few issues.

Hoping to do some aeromodelling in the college where I teach as a vehicle for science and engineering.

Hi Francis

Welcome to the forum

One of our ex committee members in the ISA used to be a lecturer at Hatfield College, apparently he too used his hobby to assist his presentation(s) in college,  and found that doing this was ploughing fertile ground when trying to relate to his, much younger students.

Apparently the students reacted positively when he used real life problems needing knowledge of the many engineering problems and their solutions that occurred in his aeromodelling, good luck if you intend to go down a similar road, he certainly made it work for him, especially when he began to see his practical examples appearing in their course notes on such things as tapered strength, power to weight ratios, CAD, planning their work and using the correct tools for the job

Regards

Thanks, Pete. That's exactly the stuff - plus a lot of stuff on forces and stability from my own field of Physics, a lot of scope for electronics and so on and so on....
