Is the January clash with the Northern league intentional?

Not intentional at all John.

Midlands have always had 2nd Saturday of the month. I have already looked at changing one date due to being same weekend as Wales, and decided to stay as we were so as not to clash with hoh.

Changing the January date would move another Midlands event to being same weekend as Wales.

Hoh have moved to miss holiday period and caused the clash. Weather will probably make decisions for us all anyway.

First event info has now been entered into the forums events calendar.

You can simply click on the rsvp tab on the calendar to advise me of your intent to come along. Or if you cant access the rsvp tab then just list add onto this thread.

You can of course just turn up on the day. But it's much better for the organising team to have a feel for then numbers wishing to attend.

Comps are hard to run with less than 10 entries. So decisions on running events may be made both on weather prediction and on number of attendees.

Events will be called on, on this thread on the preceding Friday evening

New faces are needed to keep these events running so please don't be shy!

hope to see you there .

And drag your mates along with you.

Mike

Early days for forecasting - but current forecast is showing a good wind and a good direction.

Wind similar to this Saturday afternoon when it was GREAT... :)

First time I have had the Shinto in big conditions since I've had it in August,  every day has been very very light. Usually flying empty,

Although low sun was a problem on Saturday, it currently it doesn't look like it will be next Saturday.

But early days.. fingers crossed.

Is there an upper speed limit for F3F?

XC is now giving gust of 62mph at 1500hrs  :o

with average 38mph

yes there is. All of the FAI contests have a wind limit, as far as I know (f3f also has a lower wind speed limit IIRC - 3m/s?).

I have a figure of 20m/s in my head as the upper limit but I can't remember. That seems a bit low, it might be 25. Pretty windy anyway. It's in the FAI f3 sporting code anyway.

The 38mph is also on the flat not the hill! :P  Still early days for a forecast, as Mike said.

25 m/s is the limit. Although there is always lots of discussion about where it's measured.

Some hills cope with high winds very easily some don't .

Stop worrying jerry.

Direction puts us on pole cot.  I'm not expecting any problems.

Are weather forecasters can't forecast tomorrow's weather properly, so there's no point talking about it until Friday evening.

Anyway if the last couple of weeks are anything to go by it will be warm and full of thermic air, hopefully I'll beat my PB:drool::drool::drool:

Winter league isn't anything to do with FAI therefore common sense is all that's needed.  Pole Cot is a great slope for smooth air and easy landings.  Leave up to the CD's to make the right call.

Sorry chaps, but I am wimping out.

My waterproofs do not need such a rigorous testing.

The thought of driving home 2.5 hrs in wind and rain at night does not appeal.

I am however going to have a fly at Ivinghoe tomorrow so I will get some practice in . ( hopefully in the dry)

Weather for Saturday

The predicted precipitation will be predictably pi551ng it down as predicted.

The wind will be gushing in all the wrong places.

Currently there is no forecast for fog or plagues of boils.

It would seems unlikley that we will suffer from the low blinding sun that can be such a problem this time of year.

I might just go .... But I would suggest that you don't.

No Comp but If there is a gap I may just be playing with my sticks, feel free to be as mad as me.
