Simon said:- "I think the 9th challenge time has expired so hopefully this starts the 10th....  I went out at lunchtime with my mate Ian and third launch gave me a 24.46.  Conditions were pretty good and it was relatively easy to link up thermals.  I was down at 100ft at the 20 minute mark but managed some scratching about for another 5 mins."

Neil posted in the Mosquito Challenge and said:-

"Out yesterday afternoon at the local field. Not bad conditions but quite lumpy below 50M.

My launch just about gets to 40M and flights were either very short <45 sec. in serious sink or about 1.5 to 2 mins. However, had to walk across to the car outside the field and on the way back to the usual launch area, halfheartedly launched to about 20m to save carrying the Bonus... Picked up a thermal at about 10M and away we went.

Managed 8:45 and got to a max height of 122M.

Just goes to show launch height isn't everything! (for me luck is the dominant force)."

Pleased to see a new name taking part in the challenges.

Another win for Simon, 9 out of 10 Challenges this year!

Wednesday and Thursday were good for flying. Now that the new challenge has started we have rain forecast as well as strong winds for the next few days.

I went out yesterday and managed a 23.30 flight on my second launch.  I was scratching about at 50-100ft from 17 mins which was fun, even a local buzzard wasn't interested in the small bubbles I was working - tried it and flew off in disgust!  As Tony says, now the next challenge starts we have poor conditions....

I couldn't make the Nationals but it looks like you had a good comp.  Today was the first chance to fly for a week or so and I managed a 9.49 at lunchtime.  A nice easy target for the new challenge....
