Hopefully by starting earlier  we get more light more warmth ...so as not to scare the newbies off with snow/ice/rain/gales  and general pestalance....:brr:

Haha Andy, maybe I shouldn't have joked about being cold at HOH. I've flowen in snow before, just not with 40mph wind. I think I need to get some long Johns on order. :brr:

The Willow will be ready by then and if I can get some practice in the weekend before I might have a second toy to bring with me too...  Might last 4 rounds this time. Haha

Where do you guys (and gals?) fly?

I'd like to venture further afield to improve my skills (and maybe my times too!!)

The only thing is the logistics associated with being so far from home. What's the usual thing? Camping? I've been known to put the seats down and sleep in my car, or I've got a tiny popup tent that's kept in my car, it's good for a night or even weekend, though I have stopped in it for a week at a site where there was shower facilities and a bar!!!

Hi Tony

There are guys who know a lot more about the area than me but I looked into camping in the area a lot before the July comp was called off.

Its called the Long Mynd and its near a town called Church Stretton. I have been there once but not flowen there yet. Looks really good with nice landing areas.

There are loads of campsites in the area, all with showers and toilets and most with electric hook up. One is literally at the foot of the Long Mynd. Easy to find if you Google it.

If you do decide to come down pm me. If you come a day early and camp I might do the same if I can get off work.

Take care mate.

Camp site nearest LM is possibly Small Batch Camping just close to Little Stretton.  I have been there a couple of times. Not the most salubrious of shower facilities but serves the purpose and not too expensive.  No bar but pubs in walking distance.

If you want to venture as far as Bucks there's Ivinghoe Beacon and there's a camp site nearby in the vale below.  Just Google it.

Otherwise try here for lots of potential:

from what I have seen of the LM winter series , I have done 4 events I think, the number of pilots competing is approx 10 , and no-one has camped!

Most  drive up on the day, although Scram and I did once B and B for a 2 day visit.  not a great success , weather awful, b and b not much better!
