JFreeman
In the past I have always used a separate BEC rather than the BEC in the ESC. I am in the process of putting together another 6 channel model. The ESC I propose to use has a built in 5.5V/6A switching BEC. Can somebody please give me the pros and cons of using the built in BEC rather than a separate BEC. Thanks for your help.
Mr_SMO
For starters, Pros: saving weight, space, cost. Cons: If ESC fails, then the BEC part could well fail too, leaving you with no power at all. I've thought about this too, and await others reponse with interest. Steve J
I usually use a UBEC. Doing so keeps the receiver and servo power supply away from the heat and electric fields around the power FETs in the ESC. Steve
