"Cold damp and overcast but at least it wasn't raining the wind was OK too.  To kick off the next challenge I managed a 4.45 followed by a 5.06.  I had to go a long way back scratching about at 100ft or so and it was a case of when to bottle out.  Mike Stern would have been in his element (and next County) and bagged at least 10 mins!

A nice target time for everybody....

I went out this lunchtime expecting decent conditions.  It was lovely to be out in the sun but the small bubbles of lift were not enough to climb in - only slow the descent.  Best flights were 3.06 and 3.11.  Maybe another degree or two of warmth would have allowed them to 'let go' and it would have been a completely different outcome.  It wasn't worth trying the Postal ladder again as most flights were 2-2 1/2 mins.  There is always tomorrow...

Well done Bruce - you have it ;)  I wanted to scout the air ahead of the postal challenge and found some gentle lift on my second launch.  I finished up with a 10.59!  There's always tomorrow......

  • 2 weeks later...

Two wins in a row for Bruce, both excellent times for November/December.

I managed to get out at lunchtime and start the 14th challenge.  Although it was pleasant outside there was more air going down than up!  Quite a few flights were less than 1.30.  On one flight I managed to get away a bit and ended up behind some trees in the middle of the next field.  The flight would have been around 3 mins if I had got it back.  Best of the session was a 2.56 - a nice easy target!

Thanks, lucky me, I still can't make 2min flights in still air though. That is my target now, apart from this challenge and the Winter Postal. Oh the pressure!
