"Just had an enjoyable lunch time session with the Vela which is now getting a bit tatty and not that competitive. Conditions were a bit stable but at one point the sun came out properly and I got a nice little flight to a decent height."

Nice numbers for the time of year Jon... and I'm currently eating my hat:  my theory hereabouts that light Mosquito DLGs can't launch high enough to nip at thermals is in tatters!

Went out at lunch today to chase your time.  I had got up to 1:24 after a half-dozen flights and was just getting a feel for the conditions when - concentrating more on the air than the ground - I launched too close to the water-logged edge of the field.  By the time I'd recovered from doing the splits in liquid grass, I just had time to see the Elf coming down above my head at an 80degree angle.  Perfectly-trimmed, there was no way it was going to pull up by itself.  As my right hand was too far from the transmitter to do anything about it, all I could do was watch in horror as it planted itself in a deep brown puddle!  Nose-cone half filled with water, wings well splattered with mud, but the RX, servos and battery all okay.  Just the HK altimeter at the very front of the nose got well soaked and won't download data... currently drying in the airing-cupboard!

GO Mini won't despatch until March, so plenty of time for Elf to regain its composure.

Looking rather windy this week, so it may be a day or two before the 3rd Challenge starts....

Had to try for Jons time today as I thought the 2 new challenge was still on!?

Looks like today will start the 3rd :)

Nice & sunny today but strong gusts made me think it might not be the best day to be out! However, plenty of big lift & big drift but also massive sink! 10:15am. Wanted to get out as soon as possible before wind got stronger.

Managed a few 2+'s & then found big lift & stayed with it but chickened out as it blowing way down wind out of field.

Managed a 3:05. Could only get close after with a 2:43.

Strike can certainly handle stronger winds even with no ballast, very impressive model.

Phil Carter 20/2/17 Strike 2  3:05
