Hi Guys

Entry is now closed.

I will update the Flying List and Teams that have come in prior to this, and publish during the week.

There is no need to have your physical  FAI licence with you for the weekend. I have been able to confirm that ALL entries have a valid licence

One item that as yet I haven't been able to clarify, is the FAI requirement to have your licence number on your model(s).
This takes the form of 'GBRxxxxxx' where xxxxxx is your BMFA number OR unique FAI number ( if known ) and should be in letters 25mm high.
If you have already done this, great!, else I have a black felt tip pen.........!

More on this and the flying order later

Regards

Jon

What's the deal regarding the FAI licence, Jon?

Is it because of Eurotour status or do you need one for all F3F races?

Hi Tony

Mostly it's because of the World Cup Status of the North of England Open.
As far as I remember - in the time before F3F was an official FAI Category - the FAI Licence wasn't needed for every international competition (e.g. Opens) - but I might be wrong here.

You for sure don't need it for Local/National Competitions.

Cheers

I thought, but I may be wrong, that the Licence was only necessary if you wanted your result recorded as a Eurotour result. In other words, it is not necessary to enter the comp, and not presenting it wouldn't stop you getting a result. But it would stop the result counting in the Eurotour or World Cup.

FAI SPORTING LICENCES

FAI Sporting Licences are necessary for anyone who wishes to enter an FAI international model flying competition including Championships, World Cups and Open Internationals held in the UK or other countries.

They are issued by the BMFA to either UK citizens or EU citizens resident in the UK.  There are different forms and procedures for those applicants that have a passport and those that do not.  Please be sure to use the correct forms.  For a first-time application form or a renewal form, please contact the BMFA office by telephone or download the forms here:

must admit I thought it may also have a link to being insured if flying in comps outside the UK but didn't read that bit anywhere so it may not be the case.

Wishing you all a very enjoyable & successful comp, good luck to all .

I look forward to comp news, updates & pics please.

I am bitterly disappointed that my poor health has prevented me from flying in yet another comp .

I only took one picture before the briefing. We managed 2 rounds in mist and drizzle

Well it did improve after that, but not by much. The mist remained all day, but lifted from time to time allow us get a whole 2 rounds in! By the start of round 3, the wettest of wet mist set in and we abandond ship! at least thats what it felt like.

The day was like a Winter League event, not one in the middle of summer!!
Tomorrow looks warmer and sunnier but with light westerly winds, so off to our favourite Levisham slope :)

I'm not able to give the results now, sorry guys, but should have it all sorted tomorrow.

Cheers

Jon
