Changing Carbon Wing Joiner for steel

Hi,

Looking to change the 10mm round x 250mm carbon wing joiners for stronger steel ones in the outer panels of my 1/3rd scale DG600. 

Questions is, what type of metal is best for this application - mild steel, stainless steel, carbon steel etc?

Also, does anyone know where I can buy these off the shelf?

I've bought from those guys before

as Bob says - silver steel is good stuff for wing joiners - tough, but you can still cut it with a good hacksaw

looking to change to steel as the outer panels have been lengthened slightly and strengthened and at 1.7m each I am not confident 10 mm carbon will be up to the job. The glider has a total wingspan of 6.25 m

Normal carbon steel is softer than silver steel and easier to bend, also you could temper the silver steel to further increase the stiffness.

Depends on the load as to if the carbon steel will be stiff enough. Either way, they will be considerable heavier than the carbon joiners, adding weight out on the wings where you don't necessarily want it.
