Superb as always Mike, I particularly like the pilots briefing shot, no ones taking any notice what so ever, priceless!

Great photos Mike.

It was a great day and I too was glad of my late decision to go.  Good weather, good company and the crow-through approach gave us plenty of flying too.

Hi All,

Venue advisory for Rd 2 this Sunday (not as yet confirmation).

Both the BBC & XC forecasts continuing to show NW-SW winds right through to Weds-thursd of next week. It is looking very likely therefore that the venue for rd2 on Sunday is going to be Whitesheet.

BBC  http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2642730?day=4

XC http://xcweather.co.uk/forecast/mere Wiltshire

Hi All,

Venue advisory;-  Both the BBC & XC forecasts continue to show a long run of W - NW winds, ie for the next 8-9 days. Whitesheet therefore remains as being the almost certain venue for us on Sunday. I will confirm this tomorrow with the weather call.

Weather call ;- Both forecasts continue to look very promising for Sundays comp. I will post the weather call as per usual at around 8.00 pm tomorrow, ie Friday 24th

Entry list is up to date.

Hi Guys,

Rd 2 of the Southern Winter League is ON. The venue is Whitesheet.

Meet time is at 9.00 am, at the parking area on the top of Whitesheet.

Entry remains open. I will accept entries on the day, it would however make it easier for myself if all further entries are with me by 8.00pm tomorrow, ie Sat 25th.

Sam & I will be arriving early to begin setting up so that we can get racing underway as early as possible.

If anyone has lost a wood ballast spacer today, looks like a Baudis fuse spacer, then I have it.

919. That' will do. Just about sums up the day.

Well done Martin, Tony and Stuart, and well done Nigel, whose flying today was really quite aggressive.

Congrats on the win Martin, 4 rd wins is 'cracking' flying.

Congrats on your runners up placing Tony, just as I thought, I didn't quite do enough to pip you to this falling 1.73 points short :frantics:

Very pleased with my 3rd place.

Well done to everyone else on your own placings & achievements throughout the day in each rd.

As a proud Dad, a very well done to my son Sam for taking 2nd place in Rd 9 . Time for you to move on to flying my Vampire now me thinks

Well done Martin, Tony and Stuart.

Sounds like it was a really good competition even with the wind not being spectacular. I suppose the most important thing is you managed to get 9 rounds in and the second comp of the season ticked off the list. Hope you ll had fun and enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed the day, despite the chilly conditions. Well done to Martin, winning four of the nine rounds is quite a result. Also to Tony and Stu, so close between the two of you.

Some words, with a link to the photos including a composite of Phil's Fletcher rounding base A.

Great photos Mike.

Shame about the 3 secs over-run on that base sequence - must try harder (a lot harder) - was good fun steering the ancient Fletcher around the course though - very different to the modern planes.

Phil.

That was a good day's flying, and thanks particularly to Stu for organising.  Disappointingly I didn't see Martin fly, he flew just after me and always took many seconds off my time!

That's the polite way of putting it, and I was very lucky really.   The skirmishes with terra firma were not fully intentional, and hearing the grass heads hitting the wing in full flight, with sharp intakes of breath behind, focuses the mind a little!  Things improved after some minor elevator adjustments.
