Hi Guys

Penultimate round of the Northern Winter League this coming weekend the 3rd Feb.

Judging by the difficulty other Winter Leagues are having with the weather, I am keeping my fingers crossed for this weekend.
Current forecast if for a dry day with strong WNW winds.
As usual the call will be made around 7pm on Friday evening

Met office says SSW ... with 50% probability of Snow! :brr:

It's only Tuesday - it will be completely different when it gets to Friday!

Personally, i'm considering using a string of seaweed hanging from a big stick in my back garden as a more accurate weather forecast

Ah well, some good news and some bad.

The bad news is tomorrows comp is OFF!
Not for the first time this series, wind forecast is less than 7mph for the day.
Together with the risk of rain, tomorrow is a complete none starter.

However, now for the good news. As we have now lost two rounds, the Reserve dates kick in
Next comp will therefore by on the reserve date of 17th Feb.
Following dates will be 3rd March, and 17th March

Northern F3F Winter League continues this weekend, 17th Feb, with the first of the reserve dates.
Weather still on a roller coaster of changeability, so hang on to your hats.
Call will be made 7pm Friday evening

Ok Guys, tomorrows Winter League is ON.

Wind forecasts vary a little as to the exact direction.
So meet in the Main Car Park, and we will decide then.

Meeting time is 9:30am

Cheers

Sadly, I won't be joining you for this one chaps - struggling with a family flu outbreak and a killer week at work.

Here's to a great race for you guys though!!!

Well a good day once we started flying, but we had a long wait for the mist to clear.
Don't trust a weather forecaster, especially one which predicted a breezy sunny afternoon.

Just as we were giving up, the cloud suddenly lifted and there followed a frantic scramble to put the course up again and re-rig models.
We finally got the first round started at the very late time of 15:15.
With aim of getting the minimum rounds in, conditions remained stable enough for us to squeeze in a total of 7 in the 2 hours of daylight remaining

So the 8 pilots finally got to enjoy the delights of light winds on the South Bowl, with Peter Gunning coming out on top, Ewan Maxwell in second, and Rich claiming third.
FTD went to Peter with a 50.68 in R1. Well done guys.

Full results to follow.

Thanks to everyone for helping with equipment, buzzing duties etc and look forward to the next event on the 3rd March

Pleased to hear you staged your comp today Jon, eventually with a 3.15 start

It sounds like the Whitesheet weather forecaster's of 3 weeks ago now work up your way

Congratulations Peter on winning the comp .

Well done Ewan on taking the 'runners up' placing, & to Rich on achieving 3rd

I can't remember a later start to a winter league! It was Richard the 3rd who was convinced it would clear, 10 out of 10 for positive thinking

Turned out really good, if a bit variable in light air of about 5ms. My kind of day as the FS3 is a class act in light air.

Thanks to John & Mark for CDing and everyone else for hanging in there during the 3 hour cold wait in the mist!
