I second Pete's thanks ot John and Mark for running the comp and making the decisions when the day looked shot.

Chuffed as, to get some good air in the first couple of rounds and be able to hold on for 2nd. It must have been the great launches from Mark and Steve that got me going.....hope you arms aren't too sore guys

Apologies to Rich for the shonky buzzing

Cheers Ewan

shonky

I'd not seen or heard this word before, so I looked it up.  Oxford online dictionary says:

adjective

1.

dishonest, unreliable, or illegal, especially in a devious way.

"shonky political goings-on"

I think there ought to be a stewards' enquiry!

Hi John

Team scotland under investigation then...Should have looked up the dictionary first, as I used it in the sense of shoddy, honest!   :)

Ewan,

I should make clear that not for one second did I think you intended to admit to anything underhand....or indeed that anything underhand was done.

    Congratulations on the result.

Here is an alternative source: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/shonky

shonky (comparative shonkier, superlative shonkiest)

(Australia, New Zealand, Britain, informal) Of poor or dubious quality, shoddy, unreliable; deviously dishonest, fraudulent.

I should step in before Ewan's character is forever besmirched with shonkyness.

I made a cardinal sin by passing him the buzzer during a run :ermm: Which as we all know is very naughty indeed.

And we were then chatting as Rich (the third) finished his run completely unbeknown to Ewan.

So I would say it was really may fault. Fortunately, the run we conspired to ruin was fairly average and the re-flight run was similarly average and the suggestion from the CD was that he might have lost 1 second. Not enought to change the results.

I self flagellated for an hour or so yesterday and feel better about things now

I didn’t realise that the Winter League was so competitive!

I thought it was a ‘friendly’ series :D

How long did it take to look that one up Dr Rich?

Also thanks to all for waiting for me after I had given up & walked back to the car before having to return to fly

Well you might have guessed we have a scheduled Winter League this weekend.
But I think the 'Beast from the East' is going to put paid to that.

With several inches of snow blowing in from the East, and a wind chill forecast down near minus 7 or 8,
I am not sure I fancy the prospects of Flying. A case of mad dogs etc.
So I think we can safely say this weekend is not going to happen, but ever optimistic, final call on Friday.

Don't forget however, our last bash of the winter will be the 17 March.

See you all in a fortnight.

No surpise Jon, no chance of getting there!

The snow has just kept coming up here, I'm sure it will be pretty deep on t'moor!

I can watch Piglet on telly tonight and not worry about getting up before I have gone to bed (Ch 5 - 8pm)

I thought travel for you guys would have been a problem.
I understand the A66 is currently closed as well as parts of the A1

Getting ready to watch TV myself.
"The Yorkshire Steam Railway:All aboard" guest star 'Piglet' aka Paul Middleton, former F3F pilot!

So far it seems to have been ‘The Piglet Show’. Great job by Paul :)

Hope you all have been watching "The Piglet Show"
Pity Paul isn't still flying with us,  I think he would come in for some stick on the antics at the railway!

Well, last of the Northern Winter League this weekend, and guess what,  more cold weather!
Still early days yet,  but a strong ESE forecast, could provide some fast but chilly flying.

As usual, call on Friday evening

Forecast is getting worse for Saturday. Snow now likely for much of the day.
Not only will flying be affected, but I imagine travel to Horcum may be affected.

Still cracking wind speeds, with gusts near to 50mph, but the wind chill has gone up in proportion.
I can't say that I would particularly relish attempting to fly in those conditions.
So don't rush to get yer thermals out just yet, things have gone down hill so to speak!
