50 entries received. That leaves 10 places only. Get your entry in if you don't want to be disappointed!

  • 4 months later...

Managed to nip over to Ashford on the way home from work today, and get a couple of flights in.  Conditions were good (first launch with the Satori was 36m, and away it went....)  Quite a few there already and lots of models in the air.  Field layout is much better than last year, as a large section of fence has been removed, widening the flight line and hopefully giving the last spots better clearance from the trees.

What a brilliant weekend.  Thank you to everyone who organised it and participated.

My first big comp, and my worst result thus far, but nothing can dampen the spirit of what was an awesome weekend.  Well done to all those from BARCS who qualified for the flyoffs.  Brilliant.

A couple of pics to get you all started.

A quick film from the weekend.  Not great, as was really concentrating on the comp, not that it mattered 😉

Should have filmed more.....

It was a great weekend.  My first of that type and was a steep learning curve.  Thank you to everyone that helped and advised me, especially Gary B

Have re tuned one of my models and will test it this weekend hopefully.  Maybe it will improve my times 😞

That looks like a brilliant comp.  Can someone point me at the results please?

It was a tough and fair fought contest. The weather was just right to make it hard enough to spread the field.

Lots of Explorers and Pike Dynamics being used.  One chap was flying an Inside, would be interested to find out how he did with it

I only took iPhone photos, I had to take one of the pre dawn conditions (04:00) on Saturday when I popped to my car to get paracetamol for a stuck jaw, air bed pillow had gone flat!!

Was camped next to Julian Benz who I discovered is a big F1 fan, we spent the weekend debating who is the better driver, Vettel or Hamilton!

My thanks to Peter, Chas and Graham, hot work in the sun.

     Cheers

It certainly was an exceptional thermal soaring weekend, picturesque site, well organised, good standard of flying and conditions that tested everybody.

Great to see F5J on the up and thanks to all those who made it happen.

RESULTS!!!!!!!

Sorry for the delay. I didn't leave the site until Monday after clearing up and then had to unload a car load of 'stuff' before even thinking about plugging in the computer and downloading the results. With my lack of computer skills that is a big task!

Anyhow here they are:

Congratulations to Bertrand Wilmot for repeating his 2017 win. Full report to follow
