The English Open F3f Chartity Raffle.

in aid of Bloodwise & Histio UK.

EOPoster2018Ver2res1.png.bd77284886959e4c22543ceda8f36331.png

Throughout the 2 days of the event, we will be staging a charity raffle to raise very much needed funds for the charities of both Boodwise, & Histio UK. This we are doing in memory of my Son Tom (aged 26), who died from both blood cancer, & a rare blood / immune system disorder in Nov 2015 .

Who are Bloodwise, & Histio UK ?

Bloodwise ;- Bloodwise are the UK's blood cancer charity, they fund world class research into blood cancer. Additionally, they provide emotional & practical support to patients & their loved ones & raise awareness of blood cancer. They are there for everyone effected by blood cancer, whether its Lymphoma, Leukemia, Myloma or other blood disorder.

Blood cancer is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in the UK, each year it claims more lives than both breast & prostate cancer.

Blood cancer is the 5th most common cancer in the UK with over 230,000 people living with it in the UK. 38,000 people are diagnosed each year.

To find out more about the very important work that Bloodwise do, please spare a few minutes of your time to visit their website https://bloodwise.org.uk/charity/about

Histio UK;-   Histio UK are the charity for the rare immune blood disorder Histiocytosis (HLH). This is a very serious rapidly progressive blood disorder that is very difficult to both diagnose & treat.

Similarly, to find out about the very important work that is done by Histio UK, here is the link to their website  http://www.histiouk.org/

Why these two Charities ?

1017853029_TomDJ(Small).jpg.cf05f2e2dd53b473a84c88660eeb92d5.jpg

Tom.

In November of 2015 our Son Tom died aged just 26,  from a combination of both Lymphoma & Histiocytosis (HLH).

Tom was a very skilled carpenter & general builder. Tom loved music & enjoyed DJ'ing .

Up until his illness he had never had any health problems throughout his life, he hadn't seen his GP for many yrs prior to becoming ill.

In Jan of 2015 Tom caught a common cold. One week on however Tom had become very unwell, it was obvious that something was very wrong. On seeing his GP he was given a blood test, just to rule out anything other than flu. The following day his GP rang saying that the results were very unusual & that he was to go straight to hospital. Tom was immediately admitted being very seriously ill. Tom was seriously ill in hospital for most of the following 10 months, much of this time he spent in the UK's specialist cancer unit in London. Despite expert treatment & care from the Uk's leading blood cancer specialists Tom's health progressively deteriorated. Toms Lymphoma & HLH were both extremely cruel to him, the suffering he endured throughout his illness was truly heartbreaking. Tom was outstandingly courageous throughout, we are so very proud of him.

During the last few days of his life, I promised Tom that I would do all I could to help fellow sufferers of blood cancer & HLH. After much research I found that the very best way I am able to do this is by raising very much needed funds for both Bloodwise & Histio UK. This I continue to do in Toms memory.

Here is the current list of those who are kindly & generously supporting the English Open F3f competition, & are donating goods to the raffle ;-

Whitesheet RFC. ;- http://whitesheet.org.uk/

Sincerest thanks ;-  to all the above, your kind & generous support of the English Open F3f comp & raffle 'will make a difference' in the fight against all types of blood cancer & Histiocytosis.. Additionally your donations will help improve the lives of those suffering from these serious & very cruel illnesses.

My family, Gill, myself & our sons Ben & Sam, wish to publicly give our very sincerest thanks to all the above for your support, thank you all so very much.

Meet point ;-  The various forecast continue to show a run of SW winds well into the middle of next week, I can therefore confirm the meet point as being on the SW slope at Whitesheet.

Meet time;- 9.00am please.  Early arrival & helping hands to set up in advance of this will be very much appreciated, thanks.

Beware of the Bull ! ;-  A number of 'In calf' cattle have been grazing the SW slope for several months, amongst them is a very large Aberdeen Angus bull. Despite his imposing appearance he is a pretty friendly chap,  ignore him & he will ignore you.

No flying please ;- in the interest of fairness, there will be NO practice flying, trimming flights etc on either day of the comp, prior to the start of each days racing.
