Phil.Taylor
Aerotow Soaring - here's a thread for it ! Had great fun doing aerotows yesterday at the "Devon Glider Day" http://www.dartmoorsoarers.co.uk/Eventscalendar.htm 2x extra-large extra-powerful "Extra Wots" & their pilots did a great job towing - heavy scale stuff & not so scale not so heavy stuff. I had fitted out the Sagitta & Swift with aerotow releases - then I thought that aerotow soaring would be fun too, so managed to squeeze an HS85MG & mechanism into the Tragi 801 F3J soarer. Very simple mechanisms - small oval hole in the fus which a sliding wire goes across - wire runs in a snake outer epoxied to the fus towards the hole. Loop at the end of the towline goes through the hole & held by wire. Not an original idea - picked it up from the forums - easy to do - very effective & especially so in an emergency. Aerotow F3J - not quite - but certainly a great way to go soaring - really enjoyed 15-20 min soaring flights. Phil.
