New Year's greetings to everyone.

The Northern F3F is due this weekend, Saturday 5th Jan.

Current forecast is for 7 - 8mph WNW winds. This is a bit on the low side, especially for the likes of Levisham which is not the tallest of ridges. Ideally 10mph is the lowest figure to give a sporting chance of a good days flying. With a High pressure slap overhead, the prospects of an improvement in the forecast looks slim.
However the usual call will be made on Friday evening.

Cheers

Jon

Let's see:

I've got my Pinkshift and Willow in the car.
Transmitter on charge.
Permission to leave early from the Mrs.

Sorry lads... looks like I've cursed it again for us!

Hi All

I hope this doesn't come as any great surprise, but tomorrow's comp is OFF.

High pressure dominating the scene, with the expected light winds barely getting above the legal limit.
Not to mentions the temperature or wind direction, I think we give this one a miss.

Now for the good news! All the reserve days kick in, and so we have a total of 4 more rounds to go.
For your dairies , 2nd and 16th Feb, and 2nd and 16th March.

See you all then
Jon

At least two planning to come fron Scotland Jon 👍

Dave sent me a couple of pics from the Feb 2007 comp which started on the NW slope... This is me after a walk of shame to the bottom (flying a pike superior floater)!

And then a bit later on the South bowl, looks like Rich and an early Skorp with curly tips.

Think it might be a bit colder tomorrow! The write up is still there for a trip down memory lane - http://www.nymrsc.org.uk/Winter league 4 07.htm

Don't you just love the British weather! Nothing is ever straightforward.

So we have wind ( 15 -25mph ), we have a good slope for the wind ( NW ) but do we have the weather for it?
Well, current forecast for snow showers is not very encouraging.
The showers appear to be fairly frequent , and no obvious clear skies between.
In fact the Met Office are forecasting the visibility at P (  poor )
Given Horcums penchant for mist / low cloud, I think we could be struggling to fly at all

Now these forecasts are constantly changing,  so by tomorrow, it could be anyones guess
But, reluctantly I am calling the comp OFF

Lets hope for improving weather by the date of our next comp on the 16th Feb.

See you all then
Jon

Ok, no point in dragging out the wait!!
Tomorrow is ON,
Yeehaa!

Wind forecast is 17-28mph SW
Wind direction to be assessed on the day,  so we may be on the South Bowl or Levisham dependant apon actual conditions.

Meet in the main car park for 9:30am.

See you there

Thanks Maria, great you were able to join us.

Full results to follow, but as a prelude to that, after 15 rounds the winner was Mike McCracken, second Rich Bagoogle, and third Steve Haley. FTD also went to Mike with a 37.53

Great Day out, sorry Mark R and Pengy failed to make it.
